Stretching before a workout,at least for me, is not "pleasant".
I can't stretch cold muscles,they are not as flexible... it's painful. Stretching during my workout works the best.
You don't stretch cold muscles. Do some short sprints, climb stairs, jog a little, or what I do it practice my kicks and punch combinatiosn or use the staff. Then I feel much warmer, and stretch. Then I jump into the weight-lifting.
I always do some light stretching before my workout. (At least of the muscle group I am working that day.) I am uncomfortable not stretching at all pre-workout.
