Stretch Marks....HELP....

From my understanding, stretch marks will never actually go away. When stretch marks appear to have disappeared, it is actually the skin getting thicker, which makes it appear that it's fading away. Is this true?

What ways are there to make them fade away? I have been applying Vitamin E body lotion after I shower everyday, but I am not sure if it’s working or not. It does not appear to be working.

Are there any products out there that people have used and have had success with? Or, is there anything that I am able to do to help it go away?

Any help or comments would be great.

Thanks.

Ian

Try mederma or retin A... both are very good. Retin A has been bleaching a scar I have on the inside of my elbow.

How long have you been using your lotion? Keep it up for a couple years. BTW, keeping your skin moist probably helps to prevent stretch marks. Call yourself a couple years ago and give him the news.

Just grow a mustache... no one will see them then.

*snort* nice

lol hs

They should go away with time. Most of mine disappeared after about a year or so for my skin to get used to the extra surface area it needed to cover. If that doesn't work, then just lose all the mass you've gained thusfar because then you can be emaciated with stretchmarks and that will really trip people out.

Reverse wrinkles...

Hahahaha, I have been doing it for 2 month, everyday. I understand that it's not going to happen over night. Not really a dreamer, just wanted some good advise. I have been losing weight and I am also guessing that it is also effecting it. Since Mid to late Feb, when I started till now, I have lost approx 25lbs. Weight loss has slowed down a little now, down to about 1~2lbs a week.

It's actually not from me gaining mass. Well, actually, since I started to lift, I have noticed a lot more marks on my shoulder area. Besides that, I was and am over weight and I have marks on my stomach. That's what I am trying to lose. Since I started, I have lost 4 inches.

If you can't find a source that sells Retin A go down to the pharmacy and ask them for Mederma. About $20 and they may have to order it. It is OTC though, no script required.

IT WORKS... not as fast as Retin A, but a hell of a lot faster than lotion.

AAP, thanks for the suggestions. I will head out tomorrow to go hunting and see what I am able to find. I have seen commercials on creams, but I can't seem to remember the name of the product I saw.

Mederma is some good stuff. My wife has been using this stuff on her scars from a recent surgery and it has done wonders. Expensive but well worth it.

Who gives a fuck. I wear mine like fucking medals. When a girl freaks out when I lift my arms I know I am doing my fucking job. Quit being a pretty boy pussy and live with it. So many of my stretch marks have come and gone.

Sorry, but I am a pretty boy and don't really like my 'beauty' marks. No girl's ever freaked out over them, that's not the reason. It's more of a self gratifying thing. Hmmm, I have had the same stretch marks, there's not many new ones. I use to workout in high school and have had the marks on my shoulders at that time, they are more noticable now due to the fact that I am working out again.

My stretch marks started in my sophmore year in high school. My first year in military school, in the first 2 weeks, I lost 56lbs. That's when they ALL appeared. Since then, I've always had them, depending on my weight, they have been more noticable at times and at times not.

Here's another question.

How are stretch marks formed?

I have heard that people who gain weight rapidly and that's how stretch marks are formed.

In my case, it was due to rapid weightloss.

Guess both cases will cause stretch marks?

Stretch marks are formed when skin is streched to it's limit, and then the skin loses elasticity. Weightloss does not cause strechmarks. Growing (in height), and gaining weight causes stretch marks. You did'nt get your strech marks from your rapid weight loss honey...they were formed when the weight started coming on. You just see them now because your skin is starting to sag a little. Try this: take an area of skin that has strech marks and try to spread it again, and you will see the marks go away. Now when you let go of your skin from your grip, you see the strech marks reappear. It's kind of like when a old rubber band does'nt strech anymore.

There is no cure for strech marks, the only thing you can do is to use things that lighten them up or make them in some way "appear" less visable. If you have the really bad strech marks (you know....the ones that actually come up from the skin and have a texture to them...) then you might as well just give it up, and get some makeup for it. And sometimes even that does'nt work. I just thank the lord that they are not all up and down my arms and legs.
