How do you end it?

Now, I'm not asking "how do you deal with it." Kicking back on the lazyboy smoking a fat one and watching porn doesn't help the stress go away, because whatever is causing you stress will remain once the effects of everything wear off.

So, what do you do to END your stress and make it go away until more stress comes along?

I could use one of these remedies right about now.

resolving the problem which is the source of your stress

or tai chi :)

Actually danielson is right.. you must confront and resolve the problem that is causing you the stress.

Three ways:

Lift like a nut. Whatever day it is...back, chest, whatever...go over the top and exhaust every fiber you have....maybe twice.

Crazy monkey sex. :spin:

Classical or relaxing jazz music while in a hot tub....preferrably after crazy monkey sex. :spin:

Take a nap and try to dream.

I am seroius on this.

you would be suprised what a half an hour nap can do for you in the middle of the work day

you're stressed? this comes as a surprise to me. since you've already ruled out following the best ways to rid yourself of stress, there isn't much i can say here. ok, let's think of your situation:

you're 5'9, 175 lbs, born the first day of fall 1981.

im 5'9, 175 lbs, born the first day of winter 1981.

ok, we're both young, fit and healthy. i was stressed last year and got over it. seeing as you are stressed this year, and i could bet you are dealing with the same problems i was (school, part time job, women), i can probably help. give a bit more info. exactly what is the problem(s)? just day to day stuff or something specific? we started the chapter on stress in psych class today and if need be i will crack open the text book.

Its all a state of mind. You don't have to accept stress. If it regards something important to do than its a priority, if its something in the future why invest emotion continuously thinking about the repercussions (or whatever it regards).

Stress only has to be delt with if you believe it does. Otherwise go use your time doing better things, finish the task at hand, workout, masturbate ect... Just accept the reason for something, and rationalize it before it turns into 'stress'. Even if its bad news, why put yourself in emotional state of distress. I can't think of anything bennificial coming from this emotion - so forget it, if it suits your situation best.

Lifting, that is my outlet.

For instance, I sat in the social security office for TWO FUCKING HOURS today.

Know why, do you really give a fuck?

THEY had my birthday wrong. Their mistake, the assholes.

I took every form of ID known to man.

Official copy of state issued birth certificate.

US issued passport.

State issued drivers license.

Social security card.

And, I was prepared to give a sperm sample if requested.

I waited and waited and waited.... I finally got to the window and the nice lady had the change done in less that 2 minutes. Two hours of waiting for two minutes of her fucking time.

Thank god I did that last injection of fina on monday....

Although, after sitting in that room with 50+ total losers and degenerates, I feel pretty good about myself. I may just turn out cool, someday.

Kick me some karma, GODDAMNIT!

Thanks, I feel much better.

why are you stressed.

stress is usually caused when you stand to lose something important if you don't act 'properly'. if you can figure out why you will suffer if you lose what is important, and what you can do to get back on track afterwards that may help.

figure out what's stressing you out and find a way to resolve it... i've had to do this the hard way a few times now. purge what is unhealthy in your life and you'll start feeling great again. trust me.

death is when your stress will be gone.

so you'll have various levels of stress for a long time, just get used to it. or move to a european or south amercian country where stress isn't nearly so common.

I don't really have much to say, except I am really excited that you have goofus as your icon...goofus and gallant, baby! that's how I destress, just one nice issue of harrier highlights...

But seriously, it seems that everyone says lifting as an outlet, but I'm sure you already do that. So, I have to say, nothing has ever made me feel better then yoga, and I am one stressed cookie. It is very much a long term thing, and helps you get in touch with your body (EVERY muscle, trust me, it's a hella crazy workout once you get into the tough stuff). But, if you don't want to do 'cat' (on all fours with your ass in the air) in front of a room full of chicks, rent a video.

I'm totally serious about this and I know I'll get a lot of flack...but, fuck off! Sometimes you have to stop sweating and internalize a little...

It never ends. I suppose if you have enough money, and you find the right woman or man, as the case may be, to spend your time with, it may go away.

I have one of them, and it doesn't help much. I found the other one, but I don't think she sees it the same way I do.

i would assume the secret to stress is to set your goals so low that there is no way you can miss them.

Nordstrom,

Some would say that. And believe me, I envy those who have little and want nothing more.

Well, the source of the stress in my life is clearly identifiable by me. It's not like I'm fighting the invisible enemy.

mattcaning,

You are correct... it is due to work/schoool.

MattTheSkyWalker... you are not necessarily correct. You say that it "never ends," but it didn't start until recently - and I've had it before. That would mean that it had to have ended for at least a while.

The problems I have are more of an "order" problem. As you can all probably tell from my post in RyanH's "are you anal retentive?" post, I like to have my shit in order - very in order.

So what's the problem? Disorder all over the place - with school and work.

I had to work 13 hours straight yesterday with only enough break to eat and go to the gym because I didn't have time earlier in the week. I have to skip school tomorrow to get those extra 3 hrs I need before payday on Friday, PLUS I have to read read read read for school. Why? I go to class and I fall asleep because I get bored as hell. Not from sleeping too little... I get my full 8 hours. I just get literally PUT TO SLEEP by the lectures. So, I have 3 chaps from one class, 2 from another, 2 from another, and like 2 more from this one that I'm skipping tomorrow. I just want to have this shit read. I swear... if I could just get this read I wouldn't worry. I know it's going to be worthless in my life and I'm never going to use it, but I'm set to graduate by Jan 1, 2003, and if I don't do good enough in these classes I won't see that useless piece of paper.

My mom is there telling me how not to worry and how that's not stress and how she's more stressed etc... By that, she's somewhat implying that I shouldn't be stressed because she's more stressed. Well, by that logic, she shouldn't be stressed either because I'm sure there's someone else out there who is more stressed than her... know what I mean?

arhghhrr!!!!

matt isn't wrong... the more you have to deal with responsibility-wise, the harder it can sometimes get.

it's just life... and sometimes it sucks more than at other times.

I think I've seen you recommend naps at work twice now. Seems like an excellent way to get fired when you forget to wake up before the boss shows up.

hmmm. so mr. invincible "i only glance at my textbooks and get a 3.8 GPA" is mortal after all.

i have no idea how to help. i assume you don't have any modafinil (similiar to ritalin, but less side effects). if so you could go 3 days straight reading & working to solve it all.

TRUST ME WHEN I TELL YOU THIS (I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE), THE STRESS WILL NVR END. ITS HOW YOU DEAL WITH IT THAT DETERMINES HOW STRESSED OUT YOU WILL BE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF STRESS FOR SO LONG I CANT DEAL WITH IT MUCH LONGER. SO STRAP IN AND ENJOY THE RIDE.

When the subject makes sense and it's something that I might actually use in real life, it comes naturally and I can understand it with little difficulty. When it's something completely irrelevant to my future, it doesn't come naturally and it isn't easy. :(

tell us your life story sometime.

Warik, I understand where you're coming from, and I think I understand your other posts about college being useless a little better now.

I've been there too. I worked full time and went to school full time, and it damn near drove me insane. One year, I thought I'd go year round, and took courses in the summer, and was so burned out after that I almost quit altogether.

I'm a high strung, high stress person. I deal with it now by working out, but I'm still stressed. Laughing with my friends seems to be the only thing that really relaxes me these days.

If I could get less stressed, I could get off my bp meds...
