STOP taking PROTEIN shakes?

Girlwonder

New member
I have been taking protein shakes for like seven months now and I have reached my ideal weight...BUT what can I do to keep my weight like that WITHOUT the use of any more supplements because I'm a college student and I'm on a very tight budget right now..:bawling: ...I can't waste ANYMORE money on supplements!:(
Is it really necessary to keep taking protein shakes to keep my ideal weight???:(

Protein powders are actually cheaper than eating real meals most the time.

Yes you should still be using supplements (protein Powders and such) so that you can maintain what you got right now. Protein is cheap as hell man, each protein shake is usually less than 1 dollar-now thats a cheap meal!!!

Tuna out of the can! The poor mans protein supplement! Doesnt exactly taste like strawberry delight though...another very cheap protein booster, those cartons of egg substitute...99% egg whites, pretty much pure protein...you can do tons of stuff with that!

Protein powders are supplements. The are a usefull ool, but you do not NEED them. Learn how to eat real food the right way and you'll be fine.

You could do it if you are really dedicated and take more time to prep foods in advance (for on the go). However, it is a pain in the ass to do it without protein powder. I did it for two years.

Well I'd say it's a toss up. For about 40 bucks you can get 10 lbs. of Optimum whey. Or about 60 cents for a 6 oz. can of chunk light tuna.

naw if you shop around you can find tuna for 3/100 sometimes....im a hypocrite though, i get protein powder cheap as hell through hookups...i get it by the 5 gallon bucket

Mankind has done it for thousands.

I get a 5.5lbs jug of Iron-tech protien for $21. That 1 jug is enough for 3 shakes a day for 30 days!

that 3meals a day for $.66 I could never eat cheaper. Even online at www.dpsnutrition.net its only $29 with shipping. Thats $1.00 a day for 3 shakes. There is no way you can beat that with any whole food!!

WHAT?! I still have to eat 6 meals a day to keep my weight!!!! or else I will lose ALL THE weight I GAINED???? :( Eating 6 meals a day is really A PAIN for a college student like me. :(
Somebody please tell where I could get the CHEAPEST proteins and Mrps....:bawling:

hah, i get 5 gallons buckets of myoplex for 70 bucks from a guy who works there...thats something like 35 pounds i think...maybe i should sell it on e bay?

I just gave you the cheapest place for supplements!! If you dont eat 5-6 meals a day and I'm not talking about solid meals. A shake can count for one. Your metabolism will slow and you will gain fat instead of maintaining muscle.

$30 for 90meals...you cant beat that. Pick up a tupperware drink tumbler, put 2 scoops on dry protien powder in your backpack and fill it up at a water foutain and shake it up! It doesnt get much easier!!

OR...Buy 3-4 cans of chunk light tuna ED and carry it around and snack on it throughout the day.

Get you some Value Whey. It is much cheaper than the rest; it has 40g protien every 2 servings and comes with 78 servings giving you 39 shakes with 40g of whey protein for $29. They carry it at Vitiamin World (if there is one in your area). The 1st Tues. of the month, 30% off on everything.

I agree 100%. Your diet should not revolve around protein shakes anyway. I only drink 1 shake on training days post workout and that's it. I get my protein from whole food not shakes and it has nothing to do with my budget, I believe it's the best way to go.

Iron tech has 86 servings and 2 servings = 44grams of protien
$29 includes shipping also!

I feel ya sista,

Im iin the sam eboat, not only am I a FT college student, but I also commute about 40 miles each way to get to school and I do research for the psych dept. So I know how hard it is to get those 6 meals in. Heres an example of how I do it (bea rin mind im cutting righ tnow so Im not taking in as many calories as normal)

Meal 1: 1/2 N-Large with 8oz non fat milk (about 400 cals)
Meal 2: 1 Nutrafit MRP with 16oz non fat milk (basically myoplex, about 450 cals)
Meal 3: 1 Nutrafit MRP w/ 16oz milk (another 450 cals)
Meal 4: Post-Workout - 1/2 N-large with 8oz non fat milk (another 400)
Meal 5: 2-3 1/4 beef patties 96% fat free + 2-3 slices nonfat american cheese (about 360-480 cals)
Meal 6: 1 Milk and Egg Protien Shake w/ 8oz nf milk ( about 200 cals)

Totals:
Protien - 300g
Carbs - 241g
Fat - 26.5 g
Cals - 2400 kcals a day

NutraFit cost about 25 bucks for 20 servings, N-Large is about 45 bucks for 60 half servings (30 full servings) and Milk and Egg is about 25 bucks for 46 servings.

You can find NutraFit at nutritionexpress.com

I drink the iron tech strawberry. It tastes great with water and better with milk. I only use 8 onces of fuid too!

go to your local aldi's tuna is cheap as hell, some like 26 cents a can in water, it's not the taste kind like that chicken of the sea stuff but hey it gets the job done.

i bought a 20 lb bucket of protein with 220 servinf for 80 bills. thats ike 30 cents a serving however no matter what i mix it with its fuckin disgusting. bad purchase but i use it anyways

Damn...they stop selling there products.

You will have to request a catalog from www.massnutrition.com and order it from them. They dont have their full catalog on their site. MN is cheap too, but they charge $1 more for shipping. Its $24.95 for 86, 22 gram servings and $5.90 for shipping!

I would love a site to buy from in Europe. There are custom fees and a high shipping rate if you buy it from the us or canada
