stone molds?

I poured my first one today. It wasnt really hard, but we'll see how it turns out.Basically all I did was coat the entire inside with wax, bolted it together, then poured the cement.Liek I said..we'll see.Im nerveously waiting to see how it turns out next week

how much are you gonna have to fork out for the concrete and everything that doesnt come with the molds?

I have a 300(305-315??)mold,and it took 3 bags, and about 1/4 of a 4th bag to finish it.I think they were $3.79 per bag.ALOT cheeper than what most guy's that make them and sell them, sell them for

cool, thanks alot. that gives me an idea of how much i'll have to spend for 5 of em. keep us updated on how they turn out please.

How long do you have to let them sit? Was wondering exactly how many stones one could make in 2 weeks...if they had 5 molds.

i guess not...... but you could make 2 sets and sell them for enough to make a profit. i hope our agreement works well.

can you tell me what type of concrete that it tells ya to use so i can start stocking up now?

I didnt have access to a concrete vibrator...we did alot of shaking the mold, and stirring.

what type of concrete was it? arent there different weights or sizes?

Hmm, so you figure there's about a 50/50 chance of it busting all to pieces when you drop it on something hard?

I work in concrete, and flatwork 4" thick takes 28 days to reach maximum strength, although you can drive on it with normal cars after 7 easily. This is standard grade 3000 psi stuff

Of course the grade you use will effect how strong they are. If I were building them, I'd take a blunt stick or even take a 2x2 or 2x4 and nail a flat square of wood on the bottom to help me tamp it in the mold. Then I would peck on the sides of the mold with a hammer (dont have to beat the shit out of it, but this will go a LONG way to helping it settle)

Not sure if this helps you any but thats my .02

thanks for the info. i will be making mine right after the nashville competition. i'm making two sets but its hard deciding on which 5 bc most contest for lights go up to like 310's, but now i cant do but 185's.

are you making two sets? bc i'm getting the molds soon and making two sets and would like to swap w/someone who's making 5 different ones so we would both have 10 different stones.

thanks alot, i will look into it, but from what others have said the molds are a whole lot easier than the plaster version.

really? the molds just sound confusing to me from reading these posts.

if i do make stones, i wonder how i'll take them with me when i move
