Still not training legs

I've long since stopped training my legs, other than my calves.

I'm going to start training them for performance, because I have no desire for more size.

Seriously, I haven't even touched my legs for several MONTHS and they're 25". And I'm pretty lean.

They're at their ideal proportion in my opinion, so I'm keeping them where they are. It's nice to know that if I wanted to I could probably blow them up to 29" in 5 months though...lol

whatever makes you happy..i couldnt imagine not squatting or pulling..regardless if my goal were size or pure strength..

a man with all your knowledge is joining the bicep boys club :chomp:
im messin wit ya!! lol

I don't really train legs either, except for calves. Before I ever started training, my quads were around 25.5", and I was very lean at that time. My calves were also about 16.5" without ever training. Neither measurement is huge, but my legs look great and I don't want them to get too heavy as I enjoy running and other athletics. Bigger legs would probably just weigh me down more than anything. I already have the problem of the pleats on dress pants looking stupid because my legs barely fit down the leghole and expand the pleats.

I can't wear anything, but Dickie's. Jeans look retarded on me. On the other hand, I look great in shorts.

25" thighs aren't that big imho. I'm 5' 8 1/2" and untrained mine measure 27". If I was ripped, they'd still probably be 26". Afte a year of training they were 30-31". The thigh chafe can suck at times, but spandex biker type shorts solves that under your pants.

I really don't get the I don't squat cuz my legs will get too big or it'll mess with my running. Have you ever seen sprinter's thighs and hams? HUGE. And they are the fastest mofo's. As long as you keep running, specifically sprinting, then larger more powerful thighs and hams will only help. Now distance running is a different story, but who's trying to get yoked and run a marathon at the same time?

I'd at least do heavy, low rep singles , doubles or triples in squats to build overall strength and power while minimzing some of the size gain, although some peoples thighs get huge off that type of training like me. Or pick a solid weight on the leg press like 600lbs and do 20 reps once a week with it. and stay at that weight.

I don't know, I just think everyone should do some leg training. At least do lunges and leg curls or something.

Big legs are impressive and look alot better in shorts than pants. Big, muscular legs look better than skinny chicken legs.

I saw this guy in the gym yesterday with a solid muscular build up top, and he was fairly big at like 6'2", but he had on, what do you call them, Nike warmup pants, and it was very obvious he had skinny legs from ass to calf. I'm not impressed unless both the top and bottom are properly developed.

Sometimes I wish my legs were smaller, and then I snap back to reality and am thankful they are HYOOGE.

FYI, pleats are for fat people. Get flat front pants, they look 10x better.

FYI not squatting is for lazy people! LOL. Im just messin with ya, couldn't resist that one.

Squat Poem (dont know who wrote this)

Way down the road, in a gym far away,
A young man was once heard to say,

“I’ve repped high, and I’ve repped low,
no matter what I do my legs won’t grow.”

He tried leg extensions, leg curls and leg presses too,
Trying to cheat, these sissy workouts he’d do.
From the corner of the gym where the big men train,
Through a cloud of chalk and the midst of pain

Where the big iron rides high and threatens lives,
Where the noise is made with big forty-fives,
A deep voice bellowed as he wrapped his knees,
A very big man with legs like trees.

Laughing as he snatched another plate from the stack,
Chalking his hands and monstrous back,
Said, “boy, stop lying and don’t say you’ve forgotten,
The trouble with you is you ain’t been SQUATTIN’.”

I hear you Debaser.... I was actually forced to stop training legs around 8-9 months ago from a herniated disc I got that still hurts me if I load even something ridiculous like 135 on my back...tried every leg exercise I could think of because I simply could not fathom not training legs!

They have actually grown a couple inches since I stopped training them...around 26-27" now calves 16-17" ..not huge by any means at 210lbs but then again I never wanted 30+" legs lol....

What do you mean by "thigh chafe"?

My thighs rub together. That's called thigh chafe. I'm not exactly lean right now, but I'm not chubby either. I'd guess that realistically my bodyfat is in the average for non-trained adult males(17-18%). Even when I was in the navy and 10% bodyfat, when standing at attention my thighs still slightly touched.

yeah. i got the same shit. my thighs hella rub when im walking, and the inside of legs are all chafed. kind of freaks chicks out, because it looks like a rash!
oh well, the price you got to pay to work out.

I thought you meant that. Since I started doing squats and deads I have had a problem that I easily get skin irritation in my inner thigh from long walks, I thought it may be connected to the increasin thigh size, however I have not grown that much, only a bit, I wonder if when I grow more if it will get much worse...

Sorry for the embarresing question but do you also get any kind of irritation?

Ok, I guess Illuminati answered my question before I even posted it. Anyone else have these issues? It sucks seriously. I was in Europe all of August travelling and walking a lot and I was getting this rash the whole time, I had to take a day off walking every second day, it was driving me nuts!!!

yeah, its from your thighs rubbing while you walk. not really much you can do about it, unless you do like ghettostudmuffin says, and get some spandex boxer shorts.

Damn, they hsould post warnings about this at the gym!!! :) HEHE, well I guess I will see how bad it is. I actually often wear breif boxers that are pretty tight but they didn't seem to help.. I tried going withoutm with regular underpants, regular boxers, but still nothing helped... will continue my experiments and report back. :)

Flat front pants are for people with tiny legs...

I can't wear pants unless they are either HUGE in the legs or pleated dress pants...AND I train for performance and not size.

that was in my highschool weight room
probably looked silly all 165# of me squatting......250! lol

Do you wear pleated jeans? The obvious solution is flat front pants in a larger size, and get them tailored if necessary.

All flat-front means is "not pleated," so to say they're only for tiny legs makes no sense. You can get them in whatever size you want.

Went to the store here the other day..and tried on a pair of 40's. Couldn't get them over mid thigh.

My dress pants are pleated. I can't wear "flat-front" dress pants...at all.

Saying that pleated ones are only for fat people...makes no sense either.

The legs can be trained, be good sized, and have good performance all at the same time. I'm living proof of that. I think that I just might die if I could never train legs.

I wish I could be happy with my leg size...........I have 28.5 inch quads and 18 inch calves very lean, and Im not wearing shorts till I reach 30+ quads and 19 inch calves. I think its all in my head but Im tall so I have long legs and it plays hell in my mind

Read a book about a guy who was so ashamed that his legs weren't huge...especially his calves...that he refused to wear anything except for shorts till his calves were no longer an embarassment to him.

Hmm...who was that guy again? Arnold... Schweizeigler or something? ;)

I cant imagine not training legs, thats my signature bodypart...I could do without the feeling sick every time though. My legs are pretty huge for my frame, and I can still wear jeans, but they are about 4 sizes too bog for my waist

Actually I believe that it was Samuel Wilson Fussel in his book "Muscle" but he may have been doing what he read from Arnold's book. The more I think about it...the more I think that you are correct.

well i just read arnolds book again, he didnt wear shorts but cut his regular pants off at the calves. just a FYI

Do you mean Confessions of an Unlikely Bodybuilder? I read that. Its a good book till the last chapter where he says that everything he acomplished was for nothing and completly gave up. But I did like how he was so deadacated do you remember the pics of him ? before and afters were crazy! I should do what he did and where shorts all the time. The funny thing is when I have to wear shorts like for swimming I get a lot of comments on my legs but to me they are twigs......go figure

Unless you are a competetive bodybuilder it really doesn't matter that much if you don't train legs, especially if you already have big legs.

Yep...that is the book. Good read...but I'll never read that last chapter again. Well...maybe I should....lol. So many funny things in that book.
The names kill me...Bam Bam, etc...

1,2,3,4...every night I pray for war.
5,6,7,8...rape, kill, mutilate.
