Sticking it fast or slow

I was reading on another msg where it was asked it you slowly push the pin in or do a quick stab. I have always fon it fast but 98% said they did it slow because they don't want to damage a nerve and it hurts less what is your guys thoughts?

Could you imagine if you went to the hospital and a nurse/MD pushed the pin in you slow. I'd kick his/her ass & shove the needle up their butt.

What I do is take my index finger and probe the site to find a spot that is not as sensitive as the area around it (when doing quad or delt shots) and just poke---I rarely feel a thing.

I do it very slow. I kinda like the feeling of the needle going inside the flesh in a nice controlled and slow manner...

But hey, maybe I've some masochistic tendency, or I'm just weird :D

Re

I try to go fast but sometimes on the right side ( I am left handed) I don't go in but maybe 1/4 of the way. I then just push it on in. I do prefer it to go fast.

The first few times I stuck myself I would freak out about the time the tip went in and then have to push it slowly in there. I don't spaz now as much I just jab it in there and then freak out, lol. But I am getting over my fear of needles and actually looking forward to the next shot (only because it pumps me up and it's xxxmgs closer to kicking in)

a fast insert tears the skin less..otherwise, a slow insert pulls on the skin as it breaks thru..thats why its called darting by the pros..listen to PimpnAintEasy

Thats BS unless you use a dull needle! My pins go in like a hot knive into butter.... slowly ;)

slow is the way to go. Did you ever stick the needle all the way in and then let go of the syringe and have it "angle" to the side? What you thought was a 1.5 in injection really turns out to be a .5 in injection. When you go slow, you can let go of it as you are pushing it in and make sure it is going straight. Plus, whether you are going fast or slow, if you are going to hit a nerve you are going to hit it - so I'd rather feel it slowly so I can retreat and move over . . . can't do that when you rush it.

Personally, I pierce the skin quickly and then push it in steadily. You can generally feel the pin penetrate the muscle layer.
