There was a big article on anabolic steroids in my paper last week. It was absolutely ridiculous. What they pretty much did was, take every bad problem you could EVER have from using steroids, even using them incredibly improperly, and even problems that would occur one persin in a million, and listed them there with a picture of the body.

They had th "usual suspects", acne, shrunken balls, liver problems, gyno... of course they didn't mention that proper and intelligent usage, can prevent ALL of these.

And they didn't even say a word in their big diagram, about the muscular gains steroids can help give.

Oh wait, they did.

They had on their diagram, "stretch marks".

LMAO. ROFLMAO...

As if steroids CAUSE stretch marks. That is like saying, aspirin causes broken limbs (you take some, get drowsy, fall asleep while driving, break your leg)

This is ridiculous, how hard is it to be OBJECTIVE in your reporting??

The media always has an agenda bro, can't meet that and be objective at the same time.

You say benefits. In what ways is gaining muscle a benefit to an individual, over and above the muscle an individual could gain by not taking steroids. You make it sound like it has some sort of medical significance or importance.

The general public & media also think steroids will shrink your dick. Fucking uneducated cock suckers!!!

the american media is essentially a big attention whore- dont expect more out of them - its summer time , so for most amatuer athletes and collage 'one cycle wonders' its steroid time, therfore the media sees its that time of the year and overhypes this drug of choice

+ if someone isnt smart enough to find out the true facts they dont deserve to put forign substances in there body -

In this context, something a drug does is a benefit if it is desired.

Steroid users typically desire to gain muscle. Gaining muscle is therefore a benefit. And furthermore it occurs with a LOT higher frequency than some of these other effects they mentioned, just go in to the Anabolics board and take a poll how many people have gained muscle from AS and how many people have experienced gyno. Guarantee former way more than latter.

BTW lest it color your opinion I have never used AS and I have no plans to at the moment. It's disinformation I dislile.

Whether you use AS or not makes no difference to me, but i have never read a report which claimed that if a person were to take steroids he or she would definately succumbe to those side-effects. They do, however, say that those side-effects may be experienced through steroid use. There is a big difference, and i think you need to re-read the article. If that is what it says, then where is the misinformation.

The caption of the picture is "side effects of steroid usage". The article says that they are possible side effects. The misinformation is that they have not presented the complete picture, i.e. they have not described the benefits of AS (strength + muscle gains when combined with a good workout and diet program).

If you were an alien who knew nothing about earth (similar to how most people know jack all about AS), and I said to you:

"I will tell you something about the Nazis. The Nazis were a government that arose in Germany in the 1930s, who effectively rose Germany out of its economic depression. Do you think Nazis were good?"

...what I've said would not be untrue. But it would be misleading since it PURPORTS to inform the person about the Nazis, and leaves out highly relevant information.

The article did the same thing about steroids. Its headline purported to inform readers about steroid usage in athletes, but told only about the bad side effects (making them out to be far worse and more frequent than they actually are) and said nothing about the benefits, which I have described to you repeatedly.

Comments?

You said it yourself, the article was titled 'side effects of steroids'. Does that not say it all. That's exactly what i was talking about, so where is the misinformation. The article is expressly concerned with side effects, therefore why does it need to talk about 'benefits'. It would be misinformation if the article misrepresented the way in which it dealt with possible side effects of steroids. From your descritpion, it has not done this. So where then is the misinformation.

Jesus are you trying to be dense and misread what I've said?

The caption of the image was "side effects of steroids". Go back to the first sentence in my previous post.

The TITLE (headline) of the article was, "steroid usage in athletes". Surely you would agree that this would purport to inform the reader about steroids in a more or less balanced manner.

And not one single word in the article was about the benefits that steroids can give (i.e. the REASON athletes take them!). Maybe the benefits are obvious to you. But they are not obvious to uninformed dillwads (go read my alien example if you do not understand)

I think you have an agenda here. I only want fair coverage, as I said I do not use AS, I dont plan to, and I no know one who uses it.

Hell even articles on crack usually mention a "brief euphoric high".

Certainly steroids have side effects but why focus so much attention on steroids? Alcohol abuse has killed countless more people and ruined countless more lives than steroid abuse. Likewise, an obscene amount of people will die from cigarette smoking and long term fast food consumption than will suffer serious side effects from steroids this year. I think our media and society has misplaced priorities.

who cares. let them steroids kill you and make your head explode and gives you DDs

let them think that BB kills you. I like that. So i can laugh at their fat asses.

You know what else, I forgot to write...

The pic had as one of its side effects, "ruptured tendons and ligaments"

As if those are a fucking side effect of steroids. Those are a (very minor, unless you are stupid) danger from WEIGHLIFTING, not a side effect from AS.
