Anyone see the new anti-steroid commercial airing on T.V. Saw it this morning on ESPN in Spanish and now on Spike TV in English. "Steroids don't make great athletes, they destroy them." Who are they kidding? 90% of professional athletes are taking them now or have taken steroids to be where they are now. You don't find to many 6'5" 240 lb's 10% BF men running 4.3 40's outside the NFL. But they are not juicing? Barry Bonds, one of the greatest homerun hitters juices. Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Jason Giambi. All great athletes that people look up to as idols even though there drug abuse is "known". They got a statue that deteriorates as they talk about how steroids destroy your tendons and ligaments and how excess kills your liver. The statue breaks apart because of steroids.

saw it a few months ago... it's been around.

It's good for the little kids to see it though, just sucks if they don't decide to gather there own informed opinion on it later in life.

For once, I want to see a commercial.

Announcer:

Kids. The media is out to make steroids look like the devil. Now I know kids are dying of heroin and cocain overdoses, E is frying kids brains so that they are vegetables, and oxycotin overdose has put thousands of kids into a deep sleep in which they never wake up. But the government is concerned about your steroid use. It not only will make you stronger and faster, but with the right precautions and dieting, you would make the statue of David look inferior. The government can't have a bunch of healthy David's running around making the ever growing fat slobs in America feel inferior.

Sorry, I'm ranting and raving and probably not making sense. Kids are dying because of recreational drugs, not steroids. Its ashame that the government is so focused on the steroid issue that they are neglecting the ever growing drug epidemic that has reached our children.

yah...seen it. The really sad part is that it's targeted at Joe Average instead of the abusers who the laws were originally targeted at: professional atheletes using steroids...not the average guy who uses AAS for cosmetic purposes.

the only thing i want that to help with is with younger athletes, younger kids are so easilly influenced by the HEROES , i know i have been there i practiced my sports for hours and hours as a kid and could never get enough, i wonder waht if i knew there were drugs that could help me i prolly woulda tried to get em high school kids should never juice and anything younger than that is a night mare to even think about, and if u sell to young kids u oughta be shot

I agree with you monster. But I'm going to say for the most part, many do not start because of their hero. Most of the kids that start in high school are already athletic but think that if they take gear there chances of going from a D-2 to a D-1 school will greatly increase. Most guys on the board probably started for other reasons than a professional athlete was taking stuff. Anyone selling gear to kids should be shot. The purpose of this thread was just to vent my frustration of how media totally scues society's perception on steroids. That is why we have these drones going around the nation speaking out against steroids. The media won't let out a story on how steroids extended the life of a dying aids patient, from the simple everyday use of fighting infections. I've had two friends die of heroin overdose, one die from the swelling of his brain from e, and the local high school that I attended annually has 3 kids overdosing. 3 a year! Congress should stop wasting their time on the issue of steroids and redirect their focus on stopping the illegal importation of the drugs that are killing society's youth.

I love the idea that this is a free country, but to directly misinform masses of people as a scare tactic, is just wrong. and in time it will come to the surface. remember the ephedra ban. its back in smaller doses, and they were acting like it was killing like crack!

I saw the commercial. I think it's hypocritical. These ESPN guys are the same who want to see Barry Bonds to go the milestone. They want tougher players on the football field, they want their sponsors (Nike, Reebok, etc) advertising their products in their sport channel by making the meanest toughest player wear those shoes, OOHH but they want the players to play top level week after week, year after year no matter what.

Obviously in this commercial you see tha hand of the U.S. GOV behind all this. I don't think they care about the youth's health, all they want is to tell parents (voters) what they want to hear. The U.S GOV has become disrespectful to all of us. Every time that they want to tell us what to do with our health, our looks or whatever, is a sign that this government think that we can't make the right choices for our own, but they believe that they own the absolute truth even if it is ill-informed or biased, and anyone who is opposing to it, it's likely to be thrown in jail.......that reminds me a bit of the swastika of the '45. It's sad to see the U.S empire going down, but indeed it will.

personally, i think you guys are missing the point. ya the main message is that steroids are bad, but more importantly its focused on turning kids away from using. there is absolutely nothing wrong with telling kids not to use drugs of any kind. if they become adults and decide they want to try something, than thats their own decision. that commercial wasnt aimed at people like us(adults). yeah, we can laugh at it, and think its lame, but its still for kids. its kind of the same way weed smokers laugh when they see commercials about kids who smoke weed becoming axe murderers and shit like that. and believe it or not, there are professional athletes that are 6'5" 320, and run 4.4 40's, but they were BRED that way. its sad but true.anyway, thats my 2 cents.

The irony of this where I live is that the kids have no problem getting gear on their own. Most live at home with their folks so they can't have internet sources packages delivered to their houses. They just mule it across from Mexico themselves -and it's less expensive. There's one gym here where I counted 8 or 9 different kids under 18 that were on juice at one time. A couple of them look ok-but nothing special. None of them go near the leg machines either. I call them roid puppies.

I still say the commercial saying that if you buy weed you support terrorism was even more retarded. I guess that means if I buy gas I support terrorism too?

The cold facts:

Steroids dont make a winner by themselves.
Steroids dont kill or ill many users.

You guys need to take a basic economics class. Do you think pot is illegal because it's bad for you or because there is more money to be made from it being illegal? It's the same with steroids. When steroids were legal you could get a bottle of test for under twenty bucks. Now it's near one hundred dollars. Who do you think gets this money? Here's a hint, one hundred and ten people fled the country rather then testify before congress about Clinton and Gore's contacts with China. Ever heard of GTP? Or any of the other countless thousands of powder hormone manufactures in China. Get a clue folks.
