Status - New Detour Bars

DoseOfTruth

New member
I went to a local health food store that was stocked with Detour Bars. The label indicates:

Calories - 310

Fat 10
Carbs 25
Sugar 9
Protein 30

If I remember correctly this is different from when I first saw this bar at the store. So is this information accurate??

Any updates. I love the shit but don't want to become a fatty.

Hmmm, this is just a guess but...

It could be that the "test" batch weren't as high in fat and sugar as the ones that went to market. Maybe there was a "re-test" and the numbers were a bit different.

At any rate, those stats are still pretty good for what is essentiall a candy bar. I'd rather eat a little sugar than have it taste like compressed manure. The problem is, it's so easy to think of this as a high protein food when it really should just be a treat. It also creates a taste for sweets, which is not the best thing to be doing.

Incidentally, the new "U-Turn" bars aren't that good. IMO They're trying to go for a "Milky Way" type of thing and it does't cut it. Without the nuts you can really taste the sucrolose. Eek.

I think the U-Turn bars taste better then the detour...love that caramel taste :p

One of the original batches from Dec. is what the competition ran independent testing on. I had some from those lot #'s and they had much more caramel and peanuts than they do now. I have recently seen the new testing data and it appears to be accurate to the label claims.

I have to agree that it should be considered, "only a treat", or a snack to hold you over until you get a higher quality protein source.
