Static Contraction Training (SCT)

New member
Has anyone here ever tried Static Contraction Training? I have been doing it for only two weeks and I can already tell a difference in the size of my chest and biceps. This is an amazing program. If you've tried this, please post your results. Thanks. :artist:

Yes it sucked the wang. I shrank in muscular size and lost full-range strength on most exercises

Plus... (surprise surprise) cisco did not honor the 90-day "iron-clad" guarantee so I was out $40 or whatever it is

Mickey,

I have to largely parrot our good moderator's response. I never did Sisco's full-blown static routine, but I did play with some static holds in a Mentzer-style workout. I actually saw a little size gain initially, but there was no carryover to full-range strength whatsoever.

D'oH! :)

I'm sorry to hear that. I really like the program. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to gain muscle mass on this. Too bad about the $40. I haven't read the Static Contraction Training book but I do have the Train Smart ebook and it is very informative. All body types are different and what works for one may not work for another. SCT does work for me so far and I love the short workouts. :)

Advertisement for what? I'm not trying to sell anything. I just wanted to get some opinions from people that have tried this method.

kinda yeah. but no link was posted so I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

especially considering the SCT opinion here is sufficiently low as to foil any ad attempts

I guess that's why I like this program. I am adding muscle size for that "buff look". I really don't care about full-range strength. I just want to look good on the beach. :-)

Then you may want to know that the eccentric portion of the lift is where most hypertrophy occurs.

I've heard only bad things about using static contractions as a means for growth. I know CCJ recommends a type of static holding with certain things (I believe chinups or something), but certainly no one recommends replacing any full-range motion with a static hold. Just doesn't make sense to me.

Aside from that, don't give this "what works for some, may not work for others" garbage. Sorry. There are general principles that all human bodies follow. There is a set way to induce hypertrophy, and any program that follows the principles of muscular growth will induce it (to varying degrees, based on efficacy) and therefore, work for all.

Follow any one of the routines in the training methods sticky with proper diet and nutrition. Guess what? You'll make progress. No routine is just going to work for a slim few.

i saw the title of the thread and figured i would give it a hoot. is this basically contractions with no joint movement? i am trying to work back to getting planches again, which is a mostly static position once balance is found. i know that practicing planches is the best way to get them, but supplemental excercises during chest day would help. can anyone elaborate on this SCT?

thanks for the link sivlenora

that article has stats in it, but doesnt state the number of people in the trial, the methods used, dates. reads like a damn memo. name dropping in every page. he acts like nobody has ever thought of horsepower for weightlifting. move the weights faster and your intensity goes up!! so he explains concepts of lifting for about 80 pages. then he says its all crap and SCT 30 seconds a month is where its at for muscle growth. so i use heavy weights but i dont move them much. definatly not for strength in range of motion. isnt this called partial reps?

I urge you, do not waste months of your life doing SCT. cisco is a modern day snake oil salesman, making ridiculous claims and not even backing them up with anecdotes

Gain 20 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks!!

All while doing only 2 minutes of total exercise!

Sure buddy.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion but I have to say that the program is working for me. I am not trying to sell anything. As a matter of fact, I provided a link to the Train Smart Ebook for free. I was really just wondering if anyone had tried SCT. I personally love it. I am advancing with every workout and my muscles are growing faster than with the old outdated methods. My workouts are super-fast (If you like spending lots of time in the gym, this is not for you). I like to get in and out fast and I'm really glad that I discovered SCT. I have done some internet surfing and there are some good success stories out there on other boards from people using SCT. Hey, as long as we're all enjoying what we're doing, that's what it's all about right? :-)

Sincerely,
Mickey Moran

as long as you like the results, nothing else really matters. careful about calling methods old and outdated. static training isnt anything new, its just got someone that finally got the nerve to call it breakthrough and charge money. its just partial reps in your "strong zone". for some reason i used to do this back in highschool just messing around seeing how much weight i could unrack and pretend to bench. now i should have paid for your link to tell me that its called SCT. (i do appriciate the link, it does have $$ value) to each his own, or whatever
