Southern Maine is very tolerant because gay tours in that area are huge business during the Summer. Food is amazing during the Summer...Lobster festivals, boat tours, you can drive by the Bush compound in Kennebunkport and flick him the finger....and get your picture taken by the secret service.

Plus, you are within a short drive of downtown Portland or even a couple of hours from Boston.

I live in Arizona. I think I'd choose Alaska for 3 months of the summer. I'd save the beach for the winter months.
