State gun laws

I was over in Pennsylvania this morning. I bought the newspaper to read when I got home. I saw an Army and Navy store ad on one of the pages that listed Rugers, Glocks, S&Ws and paintballs. This is something I have never ever seen in NJ. I searched up gun laws on the net but there are details like this that don't get mentioned. I don't have one now but after speaking with some relatives it was recommended that I get one for home defense.

What are the unmentioned details about getting permits and guns in your state?
