Starting Strength is an amazing book

Yeah, excellent book.

I love his little quotes, like this one on gloves: "A desire to prevent callus formation (possibly so as to not snag one's pantyhose) does not constitute a legitimate use."

Damn, I thought we'd eradicated madcow disease from this country.

You're kidding yourself. They just learned at what age the symptoms start to show and make sure they kill them before that age.

You can pretty much guarantee that you'll learn somewhere between a little and a lot from the book. You won't come away with nothing.

It goes into a detailed description of the techniques and biomechanics of Squat, Bench Press, Deadlift, OH Press, Power Clean and then a section on programming which is meat and potatoes for those of us with mc disease but bordering on heresy for anyone else.

I like that ...'snag one's pantyhose'. I am gonna use that quote the next time a gay glove thread comes up on here. LOL.

good thread, I'll check it out. Are there any other books down this line that one might recommend?

There aren't many good books sadly
so true. I spent a couple hours browsing at Borders and saw maybe one or two that weren't garbage. A lot of them are Flex magazine w/out ads.

Oh and I heartily endorse starting strength. I found the squat and powerclean chapters particularly helpful
