What does the diet look like? Mine gave me one too. It does have berries in it though.
What are your goals? I am trying to cut as well. Or atleast eat clean. I could really use a partner if you are interested. I find with all of the info I like Daisy Girls diet best. My weakness is definately air popped popcorn which I may need to incorporate once a week. I am a major night time eater as well - hence the popcorn! My husband does a carb up 2x a week and that has killed me as I am just too willing to join in! I have never eaten so poorly in my life - sugar, flour, icecream - the works!! It was really fun but has caught up with me so I am not interested in that anymore! I also love a glass of red wine - or more(!) so I guess that has to go too!
I do cardio in the morning wearing my heartrate monitor. I train at noon or at 5:00 depending on the day. Twice a week I work out with an old time Mr. Olympia. He is awesome and really has shown me some great exercises! Well - like I said, I would love to have aartner to check in with!

You rock!! Keep up the good work! How are you doing it? I am finding that breakfast is hard for me. By that I mean I have my 5 egg whites and 1/2 cup cooked oatmeal prepared but I never feel like eating that! Today I had a whey and fiber shake and then some cauliflower steamed and mixed with stevia annd cinnoman - to die for! But I know this is not what I should have eaten - I guess more discipline here is what is neede. What do you have for breakfast?

I usually have 4-5 egg whites (egg yolks seriously make me want to vomit...) with pepper on them, sometimes with some chopped tomato and green pepper mixed in and either 1/4 cup (pre-cooked) Quaker Oatmeal or 2 tbsp (pre-cooked) Cream of Wheat--always after doing cardio at 7am.

Sometimes I make omelets with Egg Beaters and some chopped green pepper and tomato and a slice of American Cheese, and I'll eat a slice of whole wheat toast with natural pb on it or some oatmeal. Not sure if I should really be eating egg substitutes or not, but I like them better than eggs and they're a lot easier.

My diet is pretty much similar to Daisy's cutting diet, but sometimes adding an extra portion of carbs (brown rice, whole wheat pasta) at meal 4 if it's a day I have a softball game or some other activity in the evening.

That souds excellent! I am impressed with your discipline. What is your cardio like? I do mine in the morning as well. I like running best buttoday I used the stairmaster with my heart rate monito to make sure it was the same intensity. I was a typical cardio junkie logging anywhere from 10 - 15 miles a day. I have cut back and upped the intensity but mentally it is hard! I would run for hours if I could! It really wasted all of my mucsle though.

I don't really like to eat (I know, sounds weird...food is just food and you need it to live), so it's not too hard for me.

Yeah, cutting back on cardio is sooo hard. I do 40 min a day, 20-25 intervals on a treadmill at a pretty high intensity and the rest moderate on the bike, but I could do much more. The last 15-20 min probably does really nothing, its' just there to keep me sane :)

10-15 miles a day!? Wow. Did you do run races?

Hey figureskater! No I don't run races because I am so compulsive that I hate to interrupt my schedule! Today I had a wonderful cardio session! 20 minutes on the stairmaster followed by a 7 miler in the rain. It was really nice! Did a great workout with my husband last night and am really looking forward to chest tonight. Breakfast was another disaster today! After my run I just can't stomach oatmeal. I had a fiber drink and then an hour later cottage cheese on a piece of low carb bread. I threw the loaf out because there are too many ingredients for it to be on the acceptable list! How did you do yesterday?

Yeah ditch the low carb bread and if you're eating bread at all, stick with whole wheat. Especially after running 7 miles! That's awesome though.

I had a great 27 min cardio interval session on the treadmill this monrning (our treadmills stop after that and there is no way to increase the time). Lifting legs after work, yippee :)

What does your weight training schedule look like?

Red wine is not that bad if you drink it in moderation...a glass or two on the weekend...try and make it a "treat"

Thanks for the advice on the wine mb! Love my treat!
Figureskater - great job on the 27 minutes! What do you do for intervals? Change the hill or up the speed? Did you ever try carrying dumbells? I know people say not to but when I run with dumbells it is and awesome workout!! When you do legs this afternoon try this exercise...if your gym has a gravitron machine for pull ups and dips - use it as a stair master by placing one foot on the ground or the bottom step and the other foot where your knees would be if you were to do a pull up. Press down with your foot and you will feel your quads and glutes beg for mercy!!

Hi! i'm also doing a competition in end Sept- curious to see your diet plan.... mine is splitting carbs and protein in different meals.. works fine but boring. Oh well.. gotta keep focusing on the journey and the fact that everything counts!

I'm doing an athletic fitness competition in Norway- basically comprises dips and chins to failure, an obstacle course and symmetry.. I'm also doing a half marathon and a MTB competition in August/September for fun... I need to do some "real" sports too- otherwise it gets to "boring" just training in the gym! :) Just did an arms workout but no fun doing dips with little carbs in the system... pumped out a few though! ;)

Kind of an HIIT but a little different--I worked up to these speeds, and plan to continue gradually increasing the speed by .10/mi every few days or week as I get in shape.

2 minutes--warmup (5.0 mph)

Then 5 times through the following 4-minute cycle:
minute 1: 5.5 mph
minute 2: 6.0 mph
minute 3: 6.5 mph
minute 4: 7.0 mph
After the 5th cycle, I add another minute of 7.5 mph.
Then I cool down the last 4 min or so--anywhere between 3.0-5mph

I prefer this over normal intense/recover HIIT using two speeds because the way that these intervals are longer and build (especially with the last one being longer) not only burns fat, but also helps me train for my 4 1/2 minute skating program...it really helps me not run out of gas 2/3 of the way through it. Especially mid-season when we're doing back-to-back run thrus at practice.

Hi everyone, I also have a show in november I give myself 16 weeks on the diet. With no cheat days. Fruit and bread is cut out at 10-12 weeks. The best way to fat for me and many females I know is to cycle the carbs. 3-5 days low 1-2 days high. This prevents your metabolism from slowing down e-mail me for questions

Figureskater - great job on the cardio!! Sounds very intense. Keep up the great work - How was leg day? I have been working with a trainer who has showed me some intersting exercises for legs - I'll be glad to describe them if you are interested!
Semi - I have tons of questions as I would love to compete. What does your diet look like? I went to a "guru" for diet info and he gave me an Apex diet - very dissapointing as I could have done that! Look forward to hearing from you!

jkmom--daaaaaamn I read somewhere else that your bf% is like 16.5%...how long has that taken you? Nice work. You below-20 people always make me so jealous :)

I'm starting to see how wonderful muscle memory is...I haven't seriously, consistently done any weight training in about two years, and although I'm just lifting for muscle maintenance so I don't lose too much in cardio, after only 3 1/2 weeks in the gym I'm lifting at or pretty darn close to (depending on the exercise/muscle group) what I was able to at my peak back then. (And back then it took me months to work up to those amounts!)

Hey Figureskater! Just the message that I needed this mornign as I am stressing out over EVERYTHING!! Well it depends who takes my bf%. I had one personal trainer who has his own studio take it. He has every certification in the book from ACSM on down so I like his estimate best(!) He used digital calipers and weighed me and I came in at 12%. I had it taken a few weeks later by another trainer at a gym - he did not weigh me but used the calipers and said I was17%? So naturally I like the first one better! I train pretty hard and used to have a meticulous diet. I began having cheat days while I was taking an "anti anxiety" med and let me tell you - wrong combo!!! I was on these for about 3 months and was fine but I guess they build up in your system and really decrease any emotions or feelings in general. Well that combined with cheat food allowed me to PACK on weight because I just did not care - due to lack of emotions I guess! They were useful because I was close to 90 pounds and still going strong on working out! They helped bring my weight up to 103. That was the weight I had my testing done at. However, I really have a great life and know for sure that I do not need this medication so I flushed them a week ago and have never felt better! My discipline is coming back, my house is clean again (!) and I am running my own and everyone elses life again!!! So I have discovered that emotions and anxiety are really useful tools in life and really help to keep behaviors in line. I try not to eat junk food I eat mainly fresh foods. My downfall is airpopped popcorn so my diet is not perfect! I am much better than before though! These chest days turned into binge festivals and it was ugly! My husband does a ckd and had a "carb up"-I call a crap up because that is what it is and he does this 2x a week. It WAS fun to join him but NO more!
Sorry this is soooo long!
I am in CT - Isee you are in NY - are you close to the city!

Nope, I'm upstate in grad school at Syracuse (where the weather is shit). From Ohio originally.

I'm just trying to get myself back down to around 20% right now, and then I'll reassess what I'm doing and where I'm going. The problem is that I was blessed with really nice, high cheekbones, and if I go any lower than about 18% my face starts to get really bony and angular and I don't like the way that looks, so that's usually where I stop.
