Ok we all here seem to be discussing alex's routines im sick an tired of hearing all the arguments so on friday im going to try 100 sets on my calves , first 30 8-10 rep range last 70 10-15 rep
range if it doesnt work im going to post it doesnt work ,if it works im going to post it works

Thats it, results will speak for themselves or not speak
 
dude, the thing with doing it on something like biceps is even if your biceps become swollen balls of shit without hypertrophy at all you can still function properly. if your calves get shot to shit you won't be able to walk. I'd rethink this one.

And yes ii am skeptical because this is not ssalexss thing it was written by charles poliquin, and this guy's job is to sell biotests magazines and make them interesting, and hes the same guy who claimed tribex500 gave him a 24 hour boner in a ad for the crap so i am skeptical but will give it a shot

There is nothing wrong with being conservative, just dont expect liberal gains.

It isnt a big deal its rather siimple if it works it works if it doesnt work it doesnt work well fiind out on friday

Exactly. If it works, it works. If it doesnt it doesnt. Howeever there is only ONE way to find that out.

I'm interested if a week later [and even after that] you have any increase in strength/resistance to pain.

i will post wether it works or doesnt work , then thats it , well see ill post results NEXT sunday

And yes i am skeptical because poliqins job is to sell magazines and stuff like this sells but i will give it a solid fair try

Notpuff, you definitely should record your achievement with a video camera. Just think how bummed all these negative small minded no hopers will be when the clip is posted of you striding confidently around, the morning of the second day after the 100 sets, on your newly massive calves!
 
This is great, you're gonna have to be pushed around in a wheelchair for the next week :D

Trust me on that one, I did it for my biceps and I was NOT able to move them, I could not even pick up a glass of water to drink, for an entire week.

Your definetly one of those types of people who back in the old days , when there friend would said hey bro i just got these pink pills called Dianabol there supposed to help build muscle quick, if you were around youd say HA hey watch out here comes steeve reeves , bullshit man no pill can help you build muscle and thats a fact !

Im not saying the 100 sets will work i honestly dont know, i do know that the onyl way to find out is to do it , will i be in pain definetly but if you makign a big deal of 1-2 days of pain well then your a wuss
 
Bro, I think its a stupid idea. Not because you're willing to try something different, I respect that. But, I have limped for an entire week after doing calves conventionally. I've hit them to the point of it being physically impossible for them to contract or stretch. Everytime I'd sit down for more than a few minutes, I'd have to message the shit out of them and push and pull on my foot gently until I was capable of walking(which took like 5 damn minutes). Then I would limp around like I just shit my pants anyway. If you're gonna do it despite everyones' warnings, good luck bro. Stretch a lot and make sure you take the following week off of work and get a colostomy bag from your doctor, so you don't have to walk to the bathroom

OK, so I'm a big meanie and not a man of vision such as yourself. But your post was just too fucking funny.

And the fact that you're so stubborn about it is just as funny. I did 5 sets of 5 negatives on the standing calf raise once, my friend and I loaded up a smith machine with something stupid and he and I fought the weight up and then I fought it all the way down on my own while standing on a block, 10 seconds each time with a 10 second stretch; I think we read it in Flex or some shit. We took turns doing this. I was never so unhappy about sleeping on a futon as I was the next day, I had to pull one of those standing halogen lamps that everyone used to have over to me by the cord and use it as a lever to elevate myself without engaging my legs. I had to take percocets for 3 days. I was stricken with cramps that felt like blows with a machete. My achilles tendons felt like they were made out of barbed wire and broken glass for a week. That's why I said some people have to learn everything the hard way and also why I think you doing 102 sets is funny.
 
yeah really, every once in a while I'll do like 12 sets for calves and won't be able to walk properly for a couple days, I have no idea what would happen if I did 102.

also something doktor bollix brought up is very important, think of the stress you'll be placing on your achilles tendon.

take before and after pics as well, so we know you aren't shitting us through this whole thing.
 
yeah......i once did about 10 sets for calves as opposed to my normal 4/5 and i couldnt walk properly for days.....im pretty sure that 102 sets would have crippled me for months......if u r really gonna go for it, good luck but it could mean being wheeled around for a few days.
 
I have done 10 sets of calves before and felt fine, everybody varies

maybe ill do wrists instead ,anybody got any objections to that ?

The thing I'm most interested about is how doing calf raises will FEEL 1 week after. Tell me if it feels a lot easier. I have a feeling the body might adapt positively to such gross overload.

actually, that makes sense... I would guess that the body would make an adaptation to calf raises after something like this, which could be good or bad, depending on your views.

do 100 sets of deadlifts. Works wrists much more (and entire back complex). Do 100 sets of deadlifts and build it enough to land a boeing 767 on it.

Notpuff, you do realize that there is a big difference between 10 sets of calfs and 100 sets of calfs. Here's what I think, Yesterday I worked at a "tireday" where people can bring in old tires and this place would take them off their hands for free. Well, the tires varied from 200+lb. tractor tires, to little car tires... but each one was still at least 25lb+... there were 7 of us, and we unloaded & then loaded in a semi-truck over 5,000 tires... we had to touch each tire at about 3 times...
I figured I lifted at least 1,000 tires (AT LEAST) they varied in weight, but I figured by the end of the day I had done close to 100 sets if I had been lifting...
I'm pretty damn sore all over today, mostly my sholders from lifting the tires into the semi... & my back and arms from getting them out of the trucks & cars...
I'll let you know if I see any difference this next week in any of my exersizes... But I seriously doubt it! My guess is I'm worthless this week for lifting b/c I'm gonna be so burnt out!!!
This is about as close as I'll get to trying anywhere near 100 sets of anything!

Umm.......

100 sets for 1 body part? 100 sets a week is too much for me.......

Here's what I've concluded. When you lift, you destroy muscle fibers and waste fills the muscles that are worked. That waste is called Lactic Acid. When you fail to lift something, it's not because you've used ALL of your muscle fibers. You have used up a lot of them, but definitely not all. Lactic acid fills the muscle making it impossible for the muscles to contract. Sure, I could do 100 sets of calf raises if I used like 50 pounds for my load. Screw that 100 set crap. You will not get any results, if anything you will damage your muscle. I really hope that the first poster of this topic was kidding.......oh for God's sake please be kidding! Who's posting this 100 set workout crap on here?
 
Let me say this:

The body DOES adapt to excessive work. Sure it's overtraining, but if they guy takes 1-2 weeks of completely after this his body MIGHT react favorably.

Our bodies are not that weak.

I think NOTPUFF had the choice between doing 102 sets of calves and 102 sets of FOREARMS. He probably knew that he wouldn't be able to walk, but he thought, "shit, I'd rather not be able to walk than not be able to jerk off":D

What is so bad about giving it a shot? in the 1960's hell even up to the 80's many people would flame u in the gym if you used the "magic pill called dianabol" because theyd say no pill can build muscle ,

bottom line is well wait until friday

While Charles is a good trainer he is not the "god" of bbing or strength training. He works with professional athletes, persons who have been training for years and years. He pulls new routines out of his ass to shock "there" muscles etc to get them to grow. His routines are not for newbies looking to look like an IFBB pro overnight.

I honestly can't believe how foolish some people (newbies to resistance training) on this board are. Anyone who would take ANY advice of SSAlexSS needs a complete frontal lobotomy. If he made 1/4 of the gains that he "claims" to have made his pics would be posted all over this place.

OH good LORD!!! I cannot believe you just said that. That is ridiculous. I do one set of deadlifts with 250lbs for 14 reps in 60 seconds...and 3 days later my back is just beginning to heal. I would kill myself if I did 100 sets. :rolleyes:
 
So you do one bodypart for 100 sets and then don't train anything else for a week or two..hahahaah...

Well how does it work? I mean obviously you don't do 102 sets one after the other. Tell us how its spread out over the day and what exercises are in there. I know that since you won't let anybody talk you out of it you're going to do it right, right?

It is sunday. Did you do your routine on friday? How was it? what did you do? We are all waiting for your results!
 
Well all you nay sayers prepare to talk because due to a family problem i couldnt do it on friday or the weekend i plan on doing it sometime this week.

Do it is quickly as you can. Try to do 200+ sets of calves. or 250 sets of arms and get as strong as Advaik. Yeh try it and see if you get same strength increases as Advaik did, coz I gonna try that out too.
