hello guys i have big problems with squats
i don't know which depth is correct.
now i have found this different videos on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac8NmRZG6yA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnXHAL5GF0I

at present i squat like the man in the first video.
am I to go more deeply? like in the second video?
if i go more deeply, it is not possible for me to hold the back straight.
what should I do?
can you help me please?

thank you very much!

the second video, but in that video he seems to be very shaky at that weight and his form is suffering too...

you need to go ASS to Grass because they weight will transfer from your knees to your hips.

If you go deep and u cant hold the arch then that means the weight is too much and you need to work on form..

DEEPER = BETTER

what does your stance look like? if you are wide like a PL stance, no need to go any more than just enough to break paralle. if you are using a narrow stance, then that is a different story,

A squat is a squat to me and I am somewhere in between those two. I go further down than the 1st vid. but maybe not as far down as the guy in the second...especially with higher weights. I need to though.

if you squat PL style, its not a very good idea to as deep as you would with a Oly squat...

I go just below parallel becuase I want to hit my quads more than my hams/glutes. I genetically have gifted hams/glutes so I need more work on my quads.

If you're not as flexible as the man in the second video then you shouldn't go that deep. It would be nice to see someone post a video of a person with poor flexibility going ass to floor.

The only thing you can do is to stretch and keep working out as you are.

For the record, even at parallel some of the weight does get transferred to the hips. If you're really concerned about the 'knees as brakes' cliche then get a box so that it meets your ass when you squat.

regards!

The 2nd vid shows someone using his sacrum and knees as a springboard to bounce out of the bottom of a squat. Do that as an inexperienced squatter and you'll hurt yourself.

although that vid's supposed to show something else, it does give the max depth and the descent speed I'd reccomend for squatting for strength/size (oly lifters you're not invited to this one ;))

Yeah, I do mine alot like the first video. My flexibility is really bad though, which is something that I need to work on.
