squat muscle emphasis

I was watching CCJ's squat PR video (385x1, pretty awesome)

And I was noticing something interesting in his form:

When he goes down it looks like the quads are taking most of the weight, but then he seems to "hip" it up, using almost entirely posterior chain.

It's almost like a squat negative to a GM-positive

THis is something I do subconsciously as well because my posterior chain is way stronger.

Anybody else do this?
I think the effects are interesting...
-the quads will grow well because they get the brunt of the eccentric weight
-it will allow greater weights bc the stronger hip muscles do most of the work

thanks 405 next! :)

actually if you look closely, the knees straighten first and hips move back in the bottom part of the squat on the way up, but then move forward again, sort like a double knee rebend.
It's nowhere near a good morning, although the movement looks a bit like it in a general way, certainly didn't feel like a GM.
If my hips stayed back after the mid way point then yeah it would be more like a GM. The hips moving back forward again at the midway/sticking point, actually brings the quads in strongly, with an extra stretch reflex on the quads to boot.

It's just an instictive way to do it, because your stronger, helps you get through the sticking point and sorta mimicks the way the hips are used during pulling part of a clean

I really don't feel oly style squats in just quads, I feel it everywhere.
But yeah that's how I normally squat now, more upright on the way down, and then hips back on the way up

This is how most olylifters squat in a sense, it's not just straight up and down with the back angle locked. More like a rotary folding and unfolding motion.
If you saw those clips I posted before of elite level olylifters squatting, you can see the same motion
