sprinting and lifting

hello all,
My goal is simple I want to get faster.

The main msucle groups that need to be targeted for speed are glutes hamstrings and hip flexors.
I have a few questions
Is it ok to sprint and lift on the same day?
Should I do hip flexors on the same day as sprints?

I'm not sure how many days to sprint and how many days to lift

Can I make progress with a routine like this.
Day 1 sprints and track work
Day 2 - squats, leg press
day 3 off
Day 4 hamstrings glutes and claves
Day5 off

Anybody with any experience with this would be great

though i have little experience with track sprints, i know that to get better at anything, you have to practice it... to get good at bench, bench a lot.... to get good at squats, squat more...
now with that in mind... maybey you should do more track work, as you only have that once in your 5 day split
maybey try
day 1 track
day 2 off
day 3 weights
day 4 off
day 5 track
day 6 off ,then repeat cycle
or even take day 7 off if you need the rest...
however you do it.. i would have more time dedicated to sprints if that were my goal... but like i said i dont know much about sprints.,, but if i wanted to improve my squat i wouldnt squat once per week and do assistance moves all week, id squat a few times and pick a couple assists to go with it

The only thing I can add, is that there is a collegiate sprinter that works out at my gym. He is a big fan of low weight, high rep, dynamic effort squats. In short, he has little weight on the bar (between 135-225) and has bands connected to the squat rack at the bottom and looped over the bar. In doing this, he is actually training the same muscle groups, but for an explosive effort, in order to "beat the bands" or complete the rep faster than the bands can keep up and give their full resistance.

I don't see him doing leg press, but I do see him doing leg curls and calf raises.

Hrmmm, taging this to post later, dont' have much time at the moment.

But until I remember to post, read up about Kelly Baggett and Mark Rippetoe. Two guys with a wealth of information for your needs.
