Splitting Up Your Workouts

I had a question for you guys. Lately my schedule has been so crazy, alot of my workouts get interrupted or cut short. I was curious to see if you guys were , for example, in the middle of a leg (or any other) workout and had to leave, do you come back and finish your routine in a few hours or just let it go ? If you just let it go, why ? is it bad to come back and go through the rest of it ?

sometimes I start too late with my workout and have to get back at it later. I
usually try to finish one exercise's sets take offafterwards and come back for
the next exercise on my plan.

It depends on what you've done and what is to go.

If you did heavy squats, there's no point in going back to do leg extensions. Let your body recover.

If you're following a plan that involves lots of compound movements, then sure, what's wrong with going back to do bench or deads after you've done squats or rows.

In other words, don't go back to beat the same body part into the ground with accessory, isolation exercises.

Well, it shouldn't be a problem considering my bias against body part splits. I hate any routine that doesn't work out the entire body every workout day so my workouts lend themselves to your situation:

IE:
3 sets of squats are done. Phone call, gotta go do something for an hour. Come back to the gym once that is done and do bench and cleans.

5x5 works!
