Spinning vs fluid trainer

any thoughts? i just want something that i can use when i can't get to the gym or in the mornings (like that will ever happen).

there is a lemond spinner for $900+

and a smooth wind/fluid trainer for $350 (but i wonder about frame damage)

cheers

I think for what you need it for...I would go with the trainer. I have a DVD someone just gave me for time trials and tri training you could use right in your warm cozy house. Try ebay or craigs list

I teach spin and we use the Lemond bike with I like....but Im buying a trainer for the winter on those days I don't want to leave the house.....

my mother-in-law has the lemond and i really like it--and the fitness store in town has 0 percent for two years...so i may have just have to do that--i have heard so many stories of people messing-up their frame on the wind trainers....

Oh dear god don't say that lol...But the Lemond is awesome

a friend had a titanium lightspeed and cranked a bit (real understatement) to much on a cyclops trainer and he claims it bent the frame in a bit...but this is the same guy who thinks the govt controls the weather..soooo

If you are training to be a better cyclist, get a trainer. This is what you want:

http://www.amazon.com/Blackburn-Tra...e=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1193809162&sr=8-3

170 shipped. Build like a rock and MUCH better than a wind trainer (crap).

Or you can harden the fuck up and ride in the cold.

thanks--it look like a good idea--and my easier to sell to my wife than the spinner.

no chance of riding outside in the cold--complete wuss. i will ride for hours on end when it's 105 though.

That is a great price too Synpax!

Come on....you don't ride in the cold? I ran last year when it was 5 degrees out....not to bad with the right gear lol

- Wind trainers make too much noise
- For less than $900 you can get a top fluid trainer AND rollers, everything a spinner does and more, but I would love a spinner for home still.
- get a Kurt Kinetic or Cyclops Fluid2, most realistic to riding on the road.

I took a spin class last night and the teacher sucked donkey balls. The morning guy is better but I can never make it.

i did my first spinning class (wife would not go for the lemond)--man, it kicked my butt--makes me think my pace varies a lot while on the roads

They really are two differnt things..much more intense then your average ride if you have a hard instructor like me....I love climbs...

btw...some good prices on trainers on ebay.....I need to get one in a few weeks. still riding outside

I picture you to be a hardcore badass trainer...I used to run a LOT before bodybuilding took over my life...LOL
