have you ever had a penalty before? I assume so judging by the way you park your car at work. if I am wrong, you can ask for it to be thrown out based on your driving record. but then again, a $200+ ticket means you done fucked up good

just don't pay it and hope that you never get pulled over again. for failure to pay a civil infraction a bench warrant will be issued, just don't ever get in trouble again.

No i don't have any other tickets.. i can usually get outta them.. this guy was a prick it was november 17th 2004. He didnt even show me the radar..

i Wanna blame the bus.. but im sure that wont work....

So far by my reading i have learned the only real way to get out is a medical excuse..

I need more details on how fast you were going, what the conditions were, how much traffic, if you pulled over immediately after, how you behaved with the cop, etc.

here we don't pay fines we don't renew our stickers

Get a lawyer. For the past four years every time I got a ticket I just pay my lawyer and he makes it go away. I used to have 29 points on my license. Now I got none.

I am willing to accept responsbility.. just find it really hard to beleive that they have all the fukin time in the world to sit at the side of the road with a radar gun to see how fast people r going and don't seem to be able to control our rapidly growing violence issue and then some.

Each police division is assigned a certain amount of cars and offices on duty at a given time.. (I know this because i dated a cop) and yah it bothers me that he sits in his car clocking my ass when he could be doing better things, considering that we have a lack of police onour streets as it is

it's from november 17, 2004!? have you postponed the court date many times, or is the municipal system really that constipated?

i don't know how shit works up there, but i don't know that making an "excuse" will work for anything in the US. here, you've got to cast doubt and question the cop's testimony/evidence. if he didn't show you the radar reading, are you sure he took one? if not, how did you determine your speed? how much over the limit were you?

It was a fall day, the conditions were fine. He walked right up to my car. didn't ask any questions. He asked for my liscesnces and registration and wrote the ticket and went back to his post.

I pulled over immediately. He basically was at the side of the road and motioned for me to pull over and i did so right away. He wasn't in his car

Nope this is the first date.. the process seems to take a long time.. not sure why the courts r so backed up.

No he didnt show me the radar. i tried to ask, but he walked away so quickly.. he was on his way back to make another catch. I saw the radar set up

I think i was 30 over

well if you were only going 30 over the speed limit i think hes an asshole for pulling you over, i hope they take his badge away

glad u see my point :verygood:

i got a ticket recently. i was really pulled over for speeding, but dude was cool and gave me a no-seatbelt instead. instead of 70 in a 45 (construction zone) worth ~$200-250 and 8 points, i got no points and 46 bucks for the fine. first time i drove away almost happy (relieved) after being pulled over. of course, it makes no difference. i drive as fast as i can get away with...i like to stick to 80+mph if possible. i hate driving slowly and i don't want to change that.

Don't know about Canada but in the good old USA speeding is a "strict liability offence." That means no mens rea is required and there is no defence to it. I watched a girl go into a 10 minute spiel about having to race home to take her mother to the hospital because she was having a heart attack. The judge's response, "You should have called 911." You have had driving/ parking issues in the past...pray your company doesn't hire this guy;

That's not very lady like..

also we dont have traffic school here
well, you go ahead and stay a lady at the cost of 200+ Canuck bucks. HT knows no boundaries......

Take it to POINTS or a traffic specalist. I have only had 2 speeding tickets in my life both very minor. One I took to court on my own the reduced it. The other the cop reduced on the spot so I wouldn't take it to court. I had one ticket that I couldn't fight myself and no good explanation for letting my licences be expired for over 2 years so I took to points and they got it tossed out. Cost of $315 savings of over 2 grand for driving with out a valid licsense.

I've had a couple of tickets and if you just go to the 'trial', they typically cut it at LEAST in half, even if you plead 'guilty'. I just got a ticket the other day for an expired Vehicle Inspection ticket?! What the heck is that, we didn't have those in WA, I didn't even know what the woman that pulled me over was talking about. $141 dollar later... :) Oh well, it's fixed now. Anyway, I'd just go to the trial if I were you, don't try to deny that you WERE speeding... and I'm sure they'll reduce the fine.

Hmmm....so nothing out of the ordinary. It'll be tough to prove you had some medical emergency or condition then. They'll require proof of a condition on top of that, if you said you had one to the court.

Hey! Don't drag me into this i was at home watching "Bob the builder!"

RADAR

I was going 86 in a 50 zone

I just found the ticket

and the fine is $271 theres a $50 dollars victim surcharge

tell the judge to fuck a duck because thats what I'd tell you.

Should own up to your responsibilities and pay your fine. If you can afford too, next time you'll realize your speeding and slow down.

You suck at life

Canadian thing not lawyers but people that repersent you in traffice court.

Dam girl!

I called xcops i fiugre even if it costs me 600 or 700 buks its worth it.. that could be 3-5 points.. my record is clean.. They garantee a clean abstract, where points doesn't

I can't park but i got a clean driving record.

Miss Fit,. this is how you avoid the points. I don't know if they will let you send money in or not. Maybe call them and make up a very good reason you can't be there, ie family illness. Tell them you did indeed speed and your sorry. Ask them where to send the check to pay. Whatever the amount the fine is, overpay it. Overpay the fine by let's say 10 dollars. They have to cash your check and re-imburse you the overpayment. Now it gets good,....when they send you the check for the overpayment....DON'T EVER CASH IT. As long as you don't cash it, they CANNOT close the files on the case, hence, they cannot assess points to you. A lawyer told me this. I son has done it and it works. Good luck.

The TicketClinic down here gets all speeding tickets dismissed for a fee and no points on your record either. Maybe they have one of those up there too.

I just had a ticket for 5 over a month or so ago.....they called it impeding traffic so there are no points and nothing to do with inurance....just $105.00 fine.....

Smart insurance companies will jack your ass now with even on single offence.

You should just not speed. Why is it people are always looking for ways out of trouble that they cause themselves? No accountability.

The TicketClinic here doesn't charge that much. Between $75-$125 per ticket.

What would Jesus do? According to the NHTSA 30% of all fatalities on US highways are caused by travelling in excess of the posted speed or road conditions; That's usually around 12,000 people killed because of speeding, for shame....:lmao:

How were you nailed ? With the regular radar or the laser ? if it's the laser then forget about it. No way to fight it.

What's the difference? It was set up ona tripod

Regular radar requires maintenance and good calibration. Laser are so accurate that it makes any argument pointless.

Owell im doing some reading i guess i will hired the damn lawyer and suck up the cost.. or it might cost me 4 points..

One good thing is that right where i was caught the speed limit changes froma 60 zone to a 50 zone:P

just suck it up and take it.. live and learn.

Do they let you take traffic school in canada to get it removed from your record?

haha nope but when u lose points ur insurance goes up.. not the same as in the states..

I am more willing to pay a lawyer a grand to get me off than lose points.. other people from Ontario get it.. things must be alot different where u guys r from.

Traffic lawyers are paid on a point basis. They get you 4 points removed, it's 100$/pts. Their job is pretty easy. They just show up at the Prosecutor's office and make a plea bargain.

So this means that 70% of all traffic fatalities are caused by people obeying the speed limit? How much more proof do we need? Speed saves lives!

I bet this statistic is about as accurate as the ones for alcohol-induced accidents.
