Speeding ticket

I got a speeding ticket, and the cop put the wrong date and put am instead of pm on the time. I was wondering if I had a chance to get out of it, because of his mistakes. It was 23 miles over the speed limit so it is a 6 point violation.

I was late to our Board of Directors meeting, and it went from 75 to 55mph I got pulled over about a 1/4 mile into the 55mph speed limit.

Dunno there but here you cant no longer argue with stupid arguments like that. Jufges will refuse it.

BTW radar detector aren't so effective like they used to be. Cops now use new radars working on different frequencies. Pretty hard to hack.

Ask for a trial by jury and then when that comes up the prosecutor will try to make a deal with you. Tell him you will pay the court cost and agree to refer adjufication with a 30 or 60 probation and if you have to offer to take DDC.

Call the prosecuting atty. (or better yet, write)

Advise that you are busy and would like to appear tocontst it, but you don't know if you can. Advise him that you'd be willing to pay a fine, but you feel as though you are not guilty of the stated offense, but you;d entertain pleading guilty to something else.

Your fine won't drop, but you'll probably get offered something that is fewer points.

Or get a lawyer and get no points and no traffic school.

Never walk into a courtroom without a lawyer. Sure you "can do it yourself," but I'm sure the time you spend getting all of that bullshit done is worth more to you than whatever petty fee a ticket defense firm is going to charge you - especially for a 23 over violation.

Besides, a guilty-anything doesn't look good on anyone's record.

I got stopped on the Turnpike in December for 79 in a 60. For a $70 fee, I got a not guilty plea with no points, no traffic school, and no BS insurance hike. Hoping to get an as-good or better result from my 21 mile-over "outside the schoolzone but I say you were in it" monster.

This wiorks too. But a lawyer is going to do exactly what I described above. Save the $500 if you can.

Exactly but my idea will work even better because the prosecutor is more likely to bend if you ask for a trial by jury. They HATE those for speeding tickets but it is your right so why not ask for one. Plus it puts court date way back so hopefully the cop will quit or forget about it.

same damn thing happened to me...

i was coming from out of the city where the speed limit is 75. i get pulled over after coming into the city going 79, but the limit had dropped to 55.

because it was 20+mph over the limit, it was a required court appearance. problem was i was moving out of state the next week.

obviously i couldn't make my court appearance, so i was told to do a plea by mail, and plead guilty, which is what i did.

anybody have any idea what kind of shit i'm looking at being stuck with?
