try and have a 72 hour break between your heavy and speed days (they are done in the same weeks...yes)

why not compete...its fun

also the bench press is a multi muscle group movement (haha compound in short).....working speed will help unless you have a major weak link
 
Speed work with 50-60 percent of 1rm will make you powerful.

If you arent doing it then you are wasting your time, if you are training for strength.

Shove a broomstick up your bum bum the next time you skip a speed day.
