Speed Bench, 3-27-03

Got some new bands in today!!!! Got a pair of mini's, lights, mids, and heavies...:)

My newest plan on flat bench is 9 sets of 3 with 45 sec rest. 2 weeks of bands (doubled light bands) then 2 weeks of heavier weight and no bands.

Speed Bench
146 plus light bands doubled x 3 x 8 sets, 45 sec rest btwn sets
3rd set, close grip
6th set...medium grip
9th set with pinky on rings
185 plus doubled mini bands x 1
229 plus mini bands x 1 Pr!!!!

Incline Bench Press
225 x 9 x 2 sets (increasing each set by 1 rep each week)

JM Press
135, 185, 185, 185 x 5 reps each

Rotators with bands
10 reps
15 reps with a different style

Face Pulls with bands
4 sets of 10 reps with 4 mini bands

Rows with bands
2 sets of 6 to 10 reps with 4 mini bands
2nd set

I do speed bench every week (Thursday). I don't usually post anything about it because I really don't focus on it at all. I go up to 405 or so every few weeks...

Do you notice any difference in doing face pulls from below your shoulders as opposed to above you shoulders? I always pull "down" towards my face, and I see you were pulling "up" towards yours. Just wondering if there is specific reason why.

I change things up so often or go for a PR on so many different exercises...that it makes it easy to set a PR. I will not go for a PR just like this again till next week...then not again for 3 more weeks.

Yeah...quite a few times I can see my abs...:)

I think that I felt the face pulls more in my rear delts and UPPER UPPER back when I pulled from lower down. Hey...it has to be a good variation...right?

Thanks. I am gonna give that a try for variation next week. I need to change up a bit on shoulder day.

For anyone who reads this thread again...I'll point out that I am VERY sore today. My chest is VERY sore.

The past several weeks I have not used bands on squats or bench and I have not been very sore at all. I added bands to my box squats on Wednesday and my hams and glutes are VERY sore.

I added bands to my bench press on Thursday and my chest is VERY sore today.

Soreness may not be an indicator of growth...but it is an indicator of something. At least it is an indicator of which muscles were REALLY worked in the previous workouts.

Serioulsly...invest in bands. They really do make a difference no matter if you are a bodybuilder or a strength athlete.

holy shit, doubled lights is INSANE band tension, or do you mean minis? eaither way thats insane lol

Also, you look like a BEAST in that video of the rows.

I actually try to force myself to lockout but I just can't get in the groove for some reason. the final lockout position kills my bicep tendons near the point of SEVERE pain.

I have the mini, light, med, heavies...2 sets of each now (Cheese and I do anyway).

im coming to see you in 15 days........ i really want to get a picture of me you and Adaus10 hitting a most muscular to let every see how big you fair to a couple of bodybuilders...... it will be great inspiration for us to get bigger and stronger...... im just giddy thinking about it.

Exodus, I love meeting people from the boards. It's nice to have a face to put with the name, and we always have a fun time training. We work hard and play hard.

I have never touched any of the strongman/woman training equipment before, so it should be interesting. Running in a straight line might be the only thing I excel at all weekend (see, I didn't say "win." LOL).
 
hey, dont sell yourself short, you did make the women's football league. ok, so i dont think i will feel as bad, not having every even tried anything strongman. but my wife is worried that she will be the smallest woman/wife there........ she's like "all of the guys wife's are gonna be bigger than me"......... so i told her to look out for you, she wont be training, but she could use the chance to see a strong women like yourself.

hey, i just wanna have as much fun as i can, and like bfold said, have so much fun we cant even walk.
