I mean the way he/she dresses.. not stylish..

you're from Louisiana. how does ANYONE not meet your style standards?

my friend dated a girl he seemed to like, and he was like "yeah she is cool but she dresses terribly". So I said (to myself) "You're a fuckin cop, what do you know from fashion"

Then I met her and he was actually right.

Scary.

To me it would be a deal breaker.

just buy him shit and dress him up how you please

who fucking cares what they wear. I know a lot of guys including me don't have a clue about fashion. It's more of not caring if I'm wearing designer clothes or shit from Ross. I've never understood the whole trendy/materialistic ideal so to base your decision about a person by the clothes they wear is pretty shallow.

If you want me to put a positive spin on it, maybe he really doesn't know much about it and you can turn him into this super trendy metrosexual that so many women seem to be attracted to lately.

Im a jeans and stylish top kinda chick... throw in some heels and the right jewerly and im out the door

fucking 30mins tops for me to head out.

i keep up with the trend but im practical, Im a single mom with two kids, one job.. (besides my little side house plan thing) and all this other shit i take care of support... etc

I think i hold my own

OK so you are saying that you wouldn't continue to date someone even though all IMPORTANT criteria was met....

because of their clothing?

And I have been accused of being crazy? LOL

I dress stylish, without trying to be trendy. I wear what looks and feels good on my body, whether it's what the stars wear is not relevant.

I can give a care less how much the shirt cost.. what design it is .. all that humbug

Im so NOT into that shit. You can be trendy and still afford it. I don't check out the tags, thats so damn silly LOL..

I'll hit the mall and spend more than i should on a pair of jeans or a top.. skirt or a jacket.. whatever.. but thats not too often. I spend to much money on shoes and makeup also.. but :verygood: heehee

I don't and would never expect my man to be 'top notch' model material.. spend a insane amt of money on clothes.

what im talking about is not matching, outdated pants.. horrid shirts etc.

I can fugging care less what he's wearing, if hes comfortable then hell its all good. Trust me my X was a jean and harley shirt guy.. never put on anything other than that, it didn't matter what i was wearing.. I'm talking funeral, dinner at a fancy resturant.. etc.

I didn't give a fuck, if people don't like it than :doublefi:

this is a blank question

Oh... I thought that is what you were saying. My bad.

I date very successful men and I get turned off if they are remotely flashy. There is nothing worse than a man who tries to show off. God, I HATE that.

I like a man that likes to look nice too but i get much more stimulated by "quiet" and sophisticated... jeans and T-shirts are ok with me as long as there is bank. I have found that the guys who are working too hard to "show" their status are the ones that lack any REAL status. Sort of amusing if you ask me.

I just went off ....... yea the post above.

:verygood:

I let my buttons be pushed so easy these days

I can care less about money, materials.. etc

I have a friend that WILL NOT date a guy that doesn't have the 'in' thing going for him. I think thats fucking silly

of course she's 21

Like Hammy, I thought you were talking about sex . . . that is important.

Clothing style, isn't important. Of course, I from New York (fashion capital) and live in a D.C. area (more conservative than NYC, but not that bad). S.O. dresses really well. I guess I've never been in this situation before.

Now if the question is about grooming, well that's different. But I don't care how much he paid for his jeans or if they are Diesel or Gap or whatever.

good to see women admitting it

I tell every guy straight up and their response is, "And I would expect no less."

What kind of woman would want a man that is not?

I dont date younger men.... so they dont count. (Struggling student and all that.)

The first characteristic is SMART.

I only find men that are 40 something and up physically, mentally and emotionally appealing. If a man hasn't achieved a modicum of success by his mid 40's THEN HOW SMART CAN HE BE?

I didnt say money.

ALL THE MEN I DATE HAVE A LOT OF MONEY OR WE DONT GO OUT.

What I said was, "Smart."

I ask them, what separates them from "the herd"? Why should I choose them to go out with?

All the men I date must be self-made, come from nothing and are entrepenuers. He could be the CEO of Coca cola if he doesnt have a controlling interest in the company, I pass. My take is, if he is so smart to run such a big enterprize then why isn't he smart enough to do it for himself? Why allow someone else to be in control of his destiny? <----not too smart IMHO.

Then I look at character, manners, selflessness and kindess towards everyone.

AND if we click... then at that point I am already liking the overall package and the sex is usually wonderful.

Exactly. I won't date anyone that does not have a college education, his own place and hasn't achieved something.
It isn't about money, I can buy my own plane tickets, my own home, take myself out to nice restaurants, plays etc. I don't need or want his money.
Its about being with someone that has goals and wants more out of life.

I have to run now kiddies... but in case you are wondering what "somewhat wealthy" is. I am not exactly sure of my current beaus worth (and I dont need to know - I know enough) but we are talking 10's of mills... at least.

BUT - that is not why I consented to go out with him. As I stated - all the men I date have money.

It was because he seemed so kind and decent.

And so far..... he has been.

that is a big deal for me, not sure it would fly. I would resent her every time we went out for whatever mall or magazine outfit she was wearing.

i would consider 10s of millions a little bit more than somewhat wealthy
guys with that much will definately have some poon stashed on the side

Let's just say he should be worth enough that I would be able to give my children the sort of life that they deserve and I never have to worry about being homeless again.

I think it's pretty damn funny that you are broker than broke, only date men with money, yet you have a problem with someone deciding to not date someone cause they have terrible taste in clothing.

Oh and Frisky to answer your question, if he wears pink and green together, he's not walking next to me!

I'll never wear pink, but I do rock green sometimes, so I guess I am still in the running huh?

Cheers,

in all honesty
gals what's more appealing
a guy who bought something fast and "cool" because he thought it would impress women
or a guy who was "into" that shit and hustled and saved until he found a bargain?

why the hell can't you do this for yourself?

Not trying to be a bitch or anything but fuck... its not that damn hard to make your own life.

If i had to hunt every damn day for someone to take care of me and my kids i'd be on miserable soul. I can't stand to rely on someone for anything.. I like to know i can do it myself.

as far as the fashion shit.. I don't care what his shoes cost.. jeans cost.. etc. I've been thru to much shit to even worry about that. I've been taking care of my self since i was 15 years old.. I've learned that money doesn't mean shit.

I'm sure I could find me some rich old man to take care of me.. give me all that I want but thats fucking disgusting.

well...
cause you said this:
"Let's just say he should be worth enough that I would be able to give my children the sort of life that they deserve and I never have to worry about being homeless again."

so what i'm wondering, is why any potential date would have anything to do with a responsibility to your own children? YOU should be worth enough to be able to give your children the life they deserve- you made them, not your future husband. anything else should be icing. If you met a great guy and he was a car mechanic, with just enough in the bank to pay his bills and afford to take you out to dinner on sat. night, you're children and your living arrangements shouldn't be a factor.

i know in time it gets better,my ex sucked when we first started dating, hell i prob did to,but by the end the sex was awesome

lol, excellent observation.

BW, you asked where the drama is, cause you'd hate to miss it, and to answer your question: Its flying over the top of your head at the moment.

Can someone clue me in as to wtf is going on?

I can only speak for myself, but I want someone that works just as hard and has achieved something. The person I am with now inspired me to start my home business and take a chance. I don't want anything or expect anything. Anything a man can do for me I can do for myself (may require some sacrificing and hard work), but it can be done.

nyc...
feel free to pm me for some missing details, but to answer your question- your philosophy is respectable and admirable. You have goals, you work hard, you're successful and you want the same in a man.
now say that you are 70,000 in debt and have been homeless, and what you want in a man is a few million in the bank and for him to be a self made millionaire and you accept nothing less.
see the difference?

materialistic.. thats what my question is..

BW made it into a bit of a different thread.. my question was.. you are completely attracted to someone.. but he has gawd awful taste in clothing.. (not even worried about what they cost..) do you just overlook it, or do you try to help him fix it.. dump him .. what?

I'm talking about him having to have 'expensive' taste in clothing either.. i mean to the pt where its just horrid.. don't match, freaking cut off blue jean shorts, wife beater type thing.
