Spatts...hip question..

I was wondering if you guys did lots of hip work with the bands. I did them again last Wednesday with the bands...you know like what you see the gym bunnies doing with the fuzzy cable attachment at the gyms...and my hips are still sore...lol. I used the mini band and did 1 set of 10 in each direction (al 4 directions) with each leg.

Do you guys do these? Do you use bands or just rely on sled dragging for this?

I think that I am going to keep these around...I can feel where it is going to strengthen the muscles just over and around my hip socket which will help with heavy farmers walks, yoke walks, and conan's wheel.

i'm no expert or vet of course but those ones you showed me w/mini bands have really helped my hips. i can already tell during some of my events and during my box squats.

bfold,

you mean like a hip extension type movement? couldnt you do some ankle dragging backwards and get the same if not better result?

Would box squats do the same thing? They always make my hips sore.

B, we do those occasionally, but as you said, we do ab/adductor drags more often.

Thanks...

I think that I am going to keep those band exercises in my weekly routine...man am I sore...lol. The stronger that my hips get the safer that box squats as well as my events should be.

bignate: I absolutely hate dragging the sled...lol. I look for about any excuse not to drag that sucker...lol. I actually feel like I get a lot more out of using the bands than I do the sled. I can keep constant tension with the bands and work in ANY motion that I want. I do all 4 directions with the bands easily...just don't feel it as well with the sled.

Have you ever thought about loading the conan up with light weight and doing grapevines one direction, then the other (bar on your shoulder)? It would be similar to some of the side walk I do with the bar loaded, and that really opens up the hips while burning the hell out of the core.

Hmmm...not sure if I can fully understand what you are talking about. We can talk about it more in a couple of weeks.

The Conan's Wheel totally fries my glutes and hams!!!

my hips are my strong point on my squat and a log of the events that i do. and i do the abductors frequently as apart of AR........ and they really do assit to strengthen mine. so i may start giving these a shot in all four directions.
