I have been waiting for an update from the Arnold from you. I wanted to know what B/B really knocked your socks off?? What did you think about the placings in the women's categories.....what did you think of the expo?? Come on girl....spit it out :D

Now thats what I am talking about....some inside news.

Valentina to me always looks nice and big on stage, but then my husband got some pics with her at the mr. o, and she didnt look very big to me . Of course though, she is tops with me, just looked smaller to me when not on stage or in professional pics???

Guess all the heavy lifters might know something about blowing that lean mass=more unneccesary mass out of water?? :D Maybe they need that Fat ??

I've heard all about Dieselgirl......and its all been GOOD :)

So....W6.....short,tall, ripped up, glasses, long hair, short hair??? :D

hey girl!!! thanks so much honey!! you are too damn sweet!!! I wish I could have met the others from the board!! too bad we didn't get a pic together! LOL

anywho... gotta get my ass to the gym!!!

BTW: I asked for a pic with Valentina at the Nationals, and honestly.. i don't think she can speak English, and if she can.. she isn't the best person to talk to... got a snotty response from her... (she didn't say anything just looked at me kinda shitty and whipped out her little bicep for the camra)

wish I never asked for that pic...

I can understand why she was alone... lol

The bench shirt and supportive gear argument is one that has raged for nearly 20 years in the PL community. I am not only the poplular side (anti-equipment) but Bill Starr said it best "Strength is a greedy mistress." It is rather like the drug issue. An individuals best lift without AAS is not going to be as good as an "enhanced" lift.

As to the fat issue, well, some of the benchers there were 'one-lift wonders' who do minimal sqatting and deadlifting, and it shows. Also, to some degree, even in the higher levels of PL'ing, there is the belief that nutrition is not as important, which is rediculous. However, there is the very real fact that when one is striving for maximal strength, dieting will send your lifts right down the toilet (and yes, this has happened to me - before I learned to be more careful).

As to why so many people in PL'ing neglect nutrition, I have no idea.

If you are curious as to what some lifters can post without supportive gear, the only organization that supports raw lifting on a large scale is one you are familiar with, the AAU.

The records are here:

W6 is a short, ulgy, pencil-necked pot-bellied MF with a nasty disposition and bad gas. Looks like a pissed off troll.

For having a bad diet, Jill comp'd out at 7% in the Bod Pod, 10% skinfolds at 5'3", 167 lbs, but given the type of workouts she does for strength contests, it's not hard to understand why she's lean. She is a class act. A far cry from many of the arrogant female bodybuilders.

Hope you all had fun at the Arnold. It was crowded this year but there are plans to expand next year. It will be better.

The men's night show was great and I was satisfied with the results (men's and women's). As satistfied as one can be.

It was a pleasure meeting Hannibal and SPAT.

Jill may be a no gear lifter now, but during her prime competitive days as a powerlifter in the USPF, she wore just as much equipment as anybody else. She first won the nationals in the 165 pound class, IIRC.

As a strongwoman, you quite simply cannot wear that crap and expect to perform. Same goes for Olympic weightlifting.

And I am not always popular as a coach, because I am a believer in a well-conditioned, functional athlete.

W6, I got out my last hydrostatic results. They were from this last July...a little over 7 months ago. Done in the KU Phys Lab, I came to 12.3%, and the skinfold matched within a percent at 12.9. Can you believe 20 something percent in 5 months?!? My lean mass then was 111 though, and now it's 130.5, so that's nice.
:)

Spatts...that is great progress!! Keep up the good work!

OH, and I'm so jealous that you got to meet Jill...I've heard wonderful things about her from my boyfriend, too. We email regularly, but can't wait until I get to go to TX and train with her...lol. I'm sure her lecture was wonderful!

She's very real...Seems to have alot of common sense, an understanding of what works for HER, and tremendous mental strength. When do you get to train with her?

Yeah, the 20 pounds LBM is nice, but if I had started carbcycling from the get-go, I would not have gained 23 pounds of fat. Live and learn. :)

Well...that's true... I am still playing with my body. Somehow in 6 weeks...I have dropped 5 lbs...but 12 inches. Explain that one to me...lol

I'm not sure exactly. She told my boyfriend that we could go down and train with her anytime....I think we are planning a trip here in the near future. We are both thrilled about it! It will be such an honor to meet her...and even more of an honor to train with her! :)

Jill is amazing...pretty sure she even bought me a beer in Boston too:)

Have a few amazing pics of her from that contest...a true lady.

I had another thought about the dough-boy syndrom often encountered in bench specialists. It is actually possible to decrease the bench stroke by bringing the bar down lower, and pushing up in a straight line. If the stomach protrudes, there is less work to do, all other things being equal.
