Soy Protein

I've read studies that say phytoestrogens present in soy have absolutely no estrogenic effects in humans and absolutely no effect on serem testosterone levels etc. etc. And of course I have heard the opposite.

I'm confessing that for about 30 days now I have been using Soy postworkout because it is CHEAP and has good bioavailabilty and I felt that I needed to mix up from the normal.

Is there truly any reason why I shouldn't do this? I feel no different - nothing to boast about but no complaints either. Just wondering what you all thought - I'd like to hear real tangible evidence either way and not just broseph hearsay.

Soy and estrogen levels are broscience

You can say what you want about the science behind it, but man after a week of drinking soy milk I get real bitchy.

That was before I even knew about the estrogen in soy......

But estrogen is not harmful, and you aren't going to develop excess by just drinking soy milk, especially if youre working out regularly.

I suppose it's really just preference, there is no scientific conclusion to the matter

If someone has gyno or bloat issues I would be cautious and not take it.

Not sure about estrogen, but I have seen 2 studies recently that show soy lowering sperm count. The one that sticks out in my mind right now was done by Dr. Jorge Chavarro, M.D at harvard and lowered sperm count something like 30 or 40 million per ml.... I've never really see any good studies on it really lowering estrogen (doesn't mean they aren't out there though) so assuming you can find none, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are currently trying to get someone pregnant... and even then, as long as you have a healthy sperm count, the 40 million drop isn't going to hurt much if at all.

do you ever notice those vegan guys that eat and drink soy everything and eat lots of soy laden sushi are all scrawny and gay looking?

YES i believe soy should be avoided. there are better alternatives. if you insist on milk go for almond milk, not soy milk. bro science or not I don't care, I am going by what i see.

I've read in BB mags that soy is okay and i've read its not so I have to go with my eyes and they do not decieve me here. I do eat some stuff with soy as its cheap and its put into a lot of things, but I do my best to avoid it!

I challenge anyone who disagrees to go on a soy diet for 1 month and prove me wrong on this topic. 3M karma for anyone who takes up that wager. it would be an awesome experiment

Well I'm not going on an ALL soy diet, no way! I'm just saying supplemental soy. I love milk, I love whey, I love casein. I love beef, I love chicken, pork and fish. I'm just saying to mix things up from the same old shake, and for cost effectiveness, I have recently added soy protein mix to my routine, one serving a day. So far like I said, I do not notice monumental difference either way. Just like to take a break from the same flavors, consistency etc. I'm not gyno or bloat prone, and so far so good!
