most pay me for these tips but i love you guys so ill post some off my fav. tips once a week

Super Shugs....ask Saint from this board if these kill you

WANT BIG TRAPS ok

three times a week try this....

put a comfortable shrug weight on the bar, meaning a weight you could do for 20 reps or more...now put your straps on, yes use straps

Next do one shrug (but hold the weight at the top of your shrug)
hold the weight for 30 seconds with out letting it down

now do 20 reps

Then hold it for 30 seconds again

Do three sets

Another good tip is to use the seated shoulder press machine for shrugs as well.

What's the difference?

Well - unless the gym has a diamond bar, the press allows you to get a parallel grip and you pull the weight thru your center of gravity as opposed to in front of you.

That's what I hate about bar shrugs, the fact that the weight is in front of you. It's too awkward for me. That's why I use dbs. But I'm still not sure how you would do shrugs in a seated shoulder press machine.

What??

You stand in the seat and grab the handles and shrug.

Peak contraction...

Why limit peak contractions and static holds to shrugs? These techniques can be used with a multitude of exercises. All muscle groups can benefit.

True. Got holds in stretch and contracted position in routine I posted on Old schoolers - click here
