some blood pressure questions..

got big?

High End Bro
Platinum
i had to get a checkup and the blood pressure was at 160/90
my doc was alarmed and has me on medication now. i'm curious because my pressure was in this range for over a year now, and this was off cycle, i finished a cycle recently of test/fina but that was over 6 weeks ago.. I never had a "problem" with it, and the last time i got it checked the doc (it was a walkin medical) said i'm a big guy so it's not unusual to be a bit high... now this doc has me on meds and shit and i'm just wondering what you guys read at, and if you take medication. I wanted to run a EQ cycle for the summer but I don't want to do it on medication and my doctor is also checking on me weekly so i don't want it to rise even more...
any thoughts?
Also a lot of you guys say you get headaches, or nose bleeds as a result from nosebleeds, i've never had a problem before...

I wouldn't tell the doctor about illegal drug use. They are not on your side. And general physicians tend to be ignorant, arrogant, and judgemental.

Did he use the "elephant" cuff on you, if you use a cuff designed for normal people, the readings will be off and way to high..

yeah the elephant cuff design, it barely fits on my arm, also i don't want to tell him about cycling I just think my blood pressure might run a little higher than normal and I don't want to be taking this medicine for the rest of my life... and I also want to keep cycling because everything else is fine according to blood work...

There's nothing wrong with taking bp med's if you have high bp. You can get real messed up if you ignore high bp. I take bp medication and it does the job. It doesn't interfere with anything, gear, working out, nothing. I take something called Avalide and I think it's one of the best ones out there. But the fact is that everyone's different in what their body (or bp) will respond to. If your pressure's that high, you just haven't found the right med for you. I say stay on the med's you're on only until you find a good general doc, have him/her take a look the whole situation and go from there by listening to what he/she says. I don't like walk-in clinic docs, believe me and stay away from that bunch. 160/90 is not a good pressure no matter how big you are. I'm 6'2.5" tall and 250 lbs and if my bp was that high I would be very alarmed. And if a doc ever told me that, that would be that last thing he told me because I'd find another doc ASAP. I work out my ass off and take AS and live with controlled blood pressure with the aid of a medication. In other words, my bp is under control due to the medication and allows me to do what I normally would do in life. If you ignore high bp it will kill you, no question about it. Drop that walk-in doc ASAP, find a good general doc and find a med that works for you and live your life brother!
