Solve Einstein's Riddle

for those of you who are a bit bored and who fancy the challenge, try and work it out WITHOUT CHEATING

There are no tricks, just pure logic, so good luck and don't give up.

1. In a street there are five houses, painted five different colours.
2. In each house lives a person of different nationality.
3. These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

THE QUESTION: WHO OWNS THE FISH?

HINTS

1. The Brit lives in a red house.
2. The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Dane drinks tea.
4. The Green house is on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
6. The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
7. The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
8. The man living in the centre house drinks milk.
9. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
10. The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
11. The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
12. The man who smokes Blue Master drinks beer.
13. The German smokes Prince.
14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
15. The man who smokes Blends has a neighbour who drinks water.

Einstein apparently said that 98% of the world's population would not be able to solve this.

So are you in the top 2% - or are you a googling cheater?

if you want to avoid cheating, then it is easy enough to move it around so that the logic remains but the name is different.

either way, I've solved this and many like it before - love this shit.

it is easy easy easy if you have Excel and still fairly easy on regular paper as well (just more erasing).

I got it first back in college and felt all special.

You sir...are a smartty pants.

my dad used to give us those brainteasers. there was one about raindeer at christmas...

i can figure them out but it involves a type of thinking i don't enjoy enough to bother with... hence i'll let you guys enjoy this little game.

the most annoying thing about it (and any of these logic puzzles) is that once you make a mistake, it will propigate through, so you can still solve the puzzle so that it looks right - but your final answer is wrong.

the GRE is full of these things - I have like 4 GRE books that I used to just flip though and solve these things (usually while on the potty) - but the GRE ones are easy enough to do in your head- much smaller grid

Third house:
Red, Brit, Milk, Pall Mall, Birds

Fourth house:

Mr. "yeah right" negative karma only feeds my ego knowing that someone is pissed off that it took him more than 5 minutes to solve the logic puzzle, if he was even able to, that is.

Ok solve this one.

There are 4 people on one side of a bridge.

Under the bridge is a bomb that is going off in 18 minutes.

TWO people must cross the bridge and one must come back.

Each group of two can only go as fast as the slowest person.

There are four people.

Number One takes 1 minute to cross.
Number Two takes 2 minutes to cross.
Number Three takes 5 minutes to cross.
Number Four takes 10 minutes to cross.

How can all four of them get across before the bomb goes off.

Remember, two people must cross in each group, one group at a time, and one person must come back.

If Number One and Number Four go across it would take 10 minutes to get there and 1 minute for number One to get back.

okay solve this one:

if train A leaves new york at 3:15 PM going 100 miles an hour to boston which is 450 miles away and train B leaves boston to new york at 5:12 AM going 90 MPH, how much does 3 apples cost?

Hmmm....it depends. What kind of apples are they? Mcintosh, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Granny Smith, Braeburn, Fuji, Pink Lady, Empire, Royal Gala, Jonagold, or Cameo?
