total voodoo, my situation is kinda similar - my housie is way younger, is an irresponsible little shit that blows all the $ he was meant to use on furniture/appliances on booze/drugs/jeans which means my place is only half decked out (i refuse to foot the bill for everything, i did that once and not only did i pay for it, my housemates stole half my stuff), and while im focussing on personal development and going down a new career path he kinda blips in and out of school and treats his work/social obligations like crap (lost his job a couple times, forgets interviews etc) and i end up cleaning about 10x more (literally.)
you either dump him, or develop him imo. i chose develop, hes coming along well
oh. and the girl he was pining after for a year wanted to jump into bed with me, but unlike you, i turned her down lol
sounds like your roommie fits right in the PB scene. You didn't have any idea what you were getting into? You've barely been here, doesn't seem like this should come as a surprise or shocker. Maybe he's just in party mode now for the summer and things we'll be a bit more even once he has to buckle down and figure out some income. 20K won't go so far.
You saving up for a house? Good luck man. I've been saving for over 5 years now. Have a solid 150K to slap down when the time comes, another 100K if I wanna tap into some 401k funds, but there's no way I'm putting my nest egg into inflated san diego housing.
Sounds like a destructive atmoshere. I for sure couldn't deal with the uncleanliness. Two weeks without cleaning is slacking for me, and I don't even get anything dirty.
