maybe because of that Katrina we have bad weather here too

my husband just talked to a lady that works at the gas station at 11 and Hoover and she said that the huracane covered some gass lines or something and that some gas stations are gonna be closing and only the main ones will stay open!!!! There were lines last night at some places because the gas went up today...

those people have had their lives ruined. i can't believe the spirit some of them have.

i'm sorry, i wasn't paying attention. i read your posts. i know gas is going to be outrageous soon. i was just thinking of the trickle down effect of all of the sick, homeless, jobless people there are.

shit, man soon we'll be jobless too, cause the gas stations are gonna close down and maybe we'll be totally out of gas cause some gass line is covered from that huracane so there is a certain amount of gass left

what do you mean covered by the hurricane?

anyway, I don't think one gas line will completly cut us all off from gas.. seriously. There are thousands upon thousands of lines.

I do however believe we will have a trickle down affect. I was just talking this morning about all these family's that just have nothing.. no job, no house.. etc. I believe I'd just pick up and move on. Can't possibly wait for them to rebuild the city to go on with your life.

Its a sad situation... one that will have a impact on Louisiana and what the state gets from our tourist.

FYI, some might not know:
most of the $ made on gas is to attribute to governments. In fact, it is not the crude oil/petroleum producers that profit most, but the states/nations buying, refining, and selling the gas.

So, blame the governments and their f'n policies. I swear, barrels could seriously cost around $25-28/barrel....and not $72. :worried:

it's more profound than people think. they evacuated an entire city. not even New York went thru that. how does one go about rebuilding so much? cleaning up the refuse? the water is still 10 ft. high in many spots. the levees have been breaking.........it's quite mindboggling.

Exactly..

The water is still rising in some area's too.

Its a sad thing. Our hotels here are booked up, they just opened up some shelters for those that have been basically sleeping at rest areas. Alot of people were stripped of their lives.

`nother thing, nothing is more destructive than water. anything underneath it is gone.

all of the foundations are shot. I'm sure things are starting to weaken as we speak.

No getting in no getting out.... I don't think I'd trust the overpasses anyway :worried:

I cancelled my trip to Disney World because I was flying out of NO.. Both airports are underwater..

Now though they say it will be open on Friday morning, I don't want to subject my kids to the devestion... They have been thru a hurricane already but I won't put them in danger for a trip that can be taken another day.

pools of standing water = breeding grounds for many, many nasty things.

my mistake - it was a fuel supply that is all under water in New Orleans and the gas stations here in Metro Detroit are closing down. Everyone is taking those fuel things to go fill them up before its too late. Only some main gas stations will be open

That's horrible for them. They should move to the midwest to avoid shit like that :worried:
hell, remember back in the 80's i think? when the mississippi flooded?

There are some hotels in N.O. still open and housing people. But they will be out of food tomorrow or by the end of the week. They are trying to figure out how to convert pool water to drinking water. Eventually, they are going to become inhabitable (sewage is starting to back up) and they will have to kick people out.

And hurricane season isn't over.

The damage from this will affect us for awhile.

Yeah, that was mid 90's I think....my hometown is right on the mississippi....nothing as crazy as an entire city being evacuated

Even if on portion of supply is underwater that shouldn't affect the rest of the US!!!!!!!! Thats just plum nuts. Sure NO supplied a portion of our fuel but we do have reserves.

If indeed your stations are closing down for apparent reason at all because trucks can get in and out of there.. not like some city's in LA,Ala,MS.. then that is just insane. The shortage of gas isn't so profound that it should affect The state of Michigan...... Hell.. I live in LA and we have thousands of people whom evacuated to here and we still have gas.

its true, I watched the news last night too. Gas stations are already out of regular gas. Now they are left with the super and that premium one and as soon as that is out - thats it. Yeah, I guess it effected us too - too soon IMO :worried: And the prices sky rocketed too because of that.

Sweetie, seriously if you believe that our entire nation will now be without fuel due to this hurricane, I seriously feel sorry for you.

Its a hype and its a coy to up gas prices, let the tanks run a little empty and the people will pay. Its rape.. yep! But they get away with it every single time... why? Cause the fucking gov't lets them.

I think they should just give the whole damn delta area up to the mighty Mississippi and build a NEW New Orleans somewhere to the north east/west inland.

It's an agreed geological foregone conclusion that the river will win eventually.

I'm just telling you what was on the news last night. They showed the gas stations with them bags over the pumps. I think that you might be right - I hope so
