WOW!! Congrats on the career change.

Why police officer?
Don't want to work a desk job the rest of my life 6 years of that is enough for almost a life time. I want to feel like at the end of the day I have actually accomplished something for the great good of the world rather then merely lining my pockets or someone elses with cash.

PBR I will find out about the camo uniforms for you. :p

Ender where ever I get assiganed I will be more then happy to do what I can. In most of the areas you list it is a select group of people causing the problems and not the community as whole. I love this city I have never been shy about admiting that be an honour to serve and protect it.

Hence, why I suggested it to you. I'm sure you could do some good. Hell, I'd commit a few crimes just to see you do a double bicep pose with your cute uniform. Not sure how you're going to get those 7Gs now unless you're on the take.

Alas, I'm fine with lining my pockets and watching the city burn in the progress. I'm just bored right now with no causes but myself to fight for.

Don't underestimate spending your life lining your pockets with cash

That is awesome. After 6 years of doing paralegal work, I was starting to hate what I passionately love. I understand the career change. I will be a "techie" in 3 weeks.

I admire people that go into public service. :)

A techie? You didn't go for your MCSE, did you?

I also understand the lull of a career change, but that's only because I'm really bored right now and trying to decide on what I want to do next. I'm starting to second guess my desires to get up the ladder. I hate it when I get like this.

You should go the mounted route.
I love horses and I used to ride all the time when I was a kid. Since moving to the city I have had limited oppertunity to ride and would so love to be able to do it as part of my work.

Nothing like a hawt chick riding bareback wearing nothing but a .45, some handcuffs and a smile.

Cuff me...I have done wrong and it's time for me to pay the price.

blueline.ca has forums for q&a

be safe. Toronto's pretty dangerous for cops, and with an increasing violent immigrant community - it's pretty hectic. Especially with gun crime and gangs.

Toughest part of being a cop - you're gonna see some real sad stuff. Theirs a couple cops on this board who'll agree.

Thanks Razor ... I know this wont be all sunshine and roses but what in life is.

Qt here is some helpful info for ya,im chasing a law enforcement career aswell.

to apply you need to goto www.applicanttesting.com find a time and date when you can do all the written and physical testing, gotta pay to do that and need it before you can even apply, you need a full g licence, which I assume you have.

also first aid and cpr level c.

id also get out and start volunteering as it is essential to show you want to give back to the community, things are really competitive at the moment so the more stuff you have the better,id maybe even look into getting a part time security job if I were you to get experience in report writing, they teach you all this stuff at opc anyway but any experience or anything to give you an edge will help

I was told all I need is my G before applying which I still have to get. Also Toronto is hiring 400 officers this year and by being a minority (aka a woman) I have a good shot. First aid and CPR level C only need to be obtained once you are hired on. This is the info I got of a friend that is a sergant on the toronto force.
I was planning on doing some volenteering as I know you need to speak of recent expeirience in interview process.

ya thats true about you not needing it until hired, but anything more to spice up a resume and get a call back. and you def got a shot, they want women bad on the force. ats is a joke btw, just study for the written stuff, you will fly through the physical stuff im sure

all of you bitches disgust me. 56 posts and no one has made a joke about qt's locker being in the mens locker room. yessh talk about dropped ball
