just had my contractor and plumbing catz check it out and give me an estimate. b/c it was bank owned, there was a lapse in time between the original scumbag owner leaving and the scumbag bank winterizing it. so, a baseboard pipe popped upstairs and the basement took some water. not a big deal since it's not a structural issue. just need to replace most or all of the heating system and gut the basement. which is actually good since now I'll be able to design it to my liking.

the work I plan to do before moving in:

- replace the pergo (sp?) with real hardwood on the main floor (cousin does hardwood floors)
- replace the tile and countertops in the kitchen
- extend the deck in the backyard and replace the wood with trex
- replace one part of my backyard fence and add a small cement ledge
- paint, clean up, etc.

Gotta really look at the basement to see what I should do there. Right now, it's sort of split into three rooms. One small room that looks like a bedroom (attached to a full bath), one unfinished "work" room with laundry and work benches, a decently sized finished room (prob used as an entertainment area) that opens up to a full kitchen (the guinea kitchen, many call it). It's got a door that walks out to the backyard.

I definitely want to keep the main area for entertaining and the kitchen (I get hard for that). The question is what to do with the two other rooms. Will need to keep the unfinished room for laundry, work space and storage. But that back room is the question. If I can extend it a bit, I'd really like a wine cellar (to make homemade wine) and a cigar smoking area.

I hope this all amounts to me having sex with women. Finally.

Every basement should be converted to a home theater IMHO
