So I got arrested Saturday night

I went out with 2 of my friends Saturday night. I met them at my friends house had a couple of drinks and we decided to go pick up a bag of urb. So we go to our usual guy that we get weed from, we pick up a quater oz from this guys place. As we leave my friend in the passenger seat starts to pack a bowl(im driving) we've been doing this for well over 10 years. So he takes a hit and I pull up to a red light...as he starts to take his 2nd hit a cop drives by in the next lane and sees him taking the hit....jumps out of the car and knocks on his window and the rest is history. Takes me and him in and lets my other friend in the back seat go. So they charge me with possesion of cds in a motor vehicle and my friend with possesion. It was my first time getting arrested....kind of an interesting experience. Definitely dont want that to happen again though.....I hope I dont lose my licsence though.

What's a CDS?

Dude, WTF, first (and virtually only useful) lesson first husband taught me, never, NEVER, NEVER drink/smoke no nos while car is stopped, lighted intersections in particular are dangerous. You do that shit while the car is moving and always after having taken a quick glance around the vicinity.

Why did the guy in the back seat get off scott free :confused: He was there too, jeez.

I am going through a divorce.....but I didnt mention it to the wife or future exwife....I dont think she will be able to find out. My friend who was in the passenger said he would take the blame so I wouldnt lose my licsence, he may tell the judge i didnt know he had it....part of me is happy about that, the other part dosent want to let him take the full blame....but like he said he's got arrested too so why should 2 people get the wrap. It happened to him 2 years ago, the passenger took the blame so he wouldnt lose his licsence.

I wonder if you woulda been arrested had their not been weed in teh car..... Nah, the solution can't be that simple.

Well, I married my first husband when I was in my late teens. People in their late teens and early to mid 20s aren't exactly renowned for their wisdom and foresight.

However, since I neither drive (nor even hold a driver's license), really what does it matter WHAT I do in my car as long as what I'm doing isn't interfering with the safe operation of the vehicle, nor the safety of anyone else on the road :whatever:

I'm a drinker, weed has never held any appeal for me. Pretty tough to get a contact high from someone else's booze.

My one and only arrest was kinda the same thing expect it was in the woods freshman year of college. I was so stoned and in disbelief i didnt mention one word haha

thats what I said, for now on no more smoking and driving, ill smoke before i drive but not carry it on me in the car......well I say that now but as time goes by I wonder if ill get back into old habits. What was the most messed up part is that I didnt even take a hit, my friend took the first 2 hits and that was then end of that.....they didnt charge me with dui. They charged me with possesion.....Since they didnt charge me with dui and only possesion I wonder if it'll effect my liscence.

I think a cds is means a controlled substance. Its true what your first husband said...I use to be very careful....never light up at intersections or never light up driving around town....i use to only smoke on the highway....but over the years I got careless and it caught up to me.....whats worse is that it wasnt me getting caught it was my friend. The guy in the back seat got off cause he told the cops he didnt smoke and the cop let him go. The cops was cool, when he brought us in he charged us with the least charge and said that he would have smoked the whole bag in one night 10 years ago....lol. We were very cool with the cop, didnt play any games because he caught us red handed so when he approached us we were honest and didnt give him a hard time at all.

I haven't touched the stuff in 20+ years, never cared for it and I still think weed should be legal and sold in liquor stores/state stores/ABC stores (whatever your individual state calls the store that sells hard liquor) with the same restrictions as hard liquor. I think the only reason it isn't is because it's a natural product and hence cannot be patented.

It's beyond the pale of stupidity to have weed illegal and cigarettes legal. That gateway drug argument is utter bullshit. Weed is as much a gateway to anything as vodka, beer or white sugar is. The only gateway is you break the law obtaining or using it, you get comfortable with skirting legal issues. There's no gateway in getting high. Most people get high one way or another, whether it's risky behavior, alcohol, junk food, gambling, sex, what have you. Humans have been doing it since the beginning of time.

good question......for me its just dont get caught....which means dont smoke it in your car or carry it on you. This dosent mean im going to stop smoking pot....just not while im driving....next time Ill smoke and then get in my car. I dont see anything wrong with it.
 
I've had many friends who thought the same as you do, I once thought that I would never quit, prolly told you that before. I as well as the majority of them, found ourselves in trouble, again. All this inspite of very hard and fast "rules" we set for ourselves. Instead of being unique in our drug use, we were just very ordinary....

I wish all the luck in the world, you seem to be a very nice person...
 
Just got back from court because of this. My friend took the blame for it, figuring I could lose my liscence(since it was my car) and who knows what could happen with my pending divorce, as well as he was going to get hit with this whether he took full responsibility or not. HE worked out a condigent discharge of the charges. In the end its a $800 fine that has to be paid in the course of the next 12 months, plus he's on probation....which means if he gets caught with it again he wont get a discharge. Plus they said they can give him a random drug test in those 12 months. But the likely hood of him getting a drug test is slim(according to the prosecutor). After the 12 months if he's does not get caught with cds(pot) and pays the fine the charges are dropped.
Im splitting the cost of the fine with him as well as I took care of his $100 warrent when we were takin in the day of the arrest. He had no cash on him and they were going to send him to the county for 2 days since he didnt have any $$ to pay for the warrent. I luckily had money on me which I usually dont that day so I paid it for him. I feel bad having him take the blame for it, but I guess it makes sense.

I thought about it, but I figured even if he didnt do that he'd still have to go through the same thing. So I figured pay for half a buy him a 1/4 or 1/2. A full Z is pretty dam expensive
