So I found a Bowflex.

from what i've seen they are great to pile clothes on!

They are great for your clothes ! I hang all my cloths on it.... I put the hanger through the holes at the end of the bows....its great ! Thanx Bowflex!

My firiend had one and was bragging about how great it is and how it's harder than free weight. He had the best one, the thing was over a grand$ and came with 400lbs of "power rod resistance." Eventually his constant bragging pissed me off so I loaded everysingle rod and benched it 10 times. After I said, "bowflex is bullshit and you will never get big off of it!"

I worked at a sports store that sold the entry level one that had 300lbs of resistance and I would rep that out like 25-30 times just for fun. That shit is crap.

I don't know how big you are, what one you used, or how much you bench...but I used to use the bowflex (it how I started lifting) and that shit is hard once you get to moe than one of those 100lb power rods.

Granted I haven't used that thing since I was about 170lbs, but those 100lb power rods are just plain hard to bend. Again, I haven't even seen one in 5 years, but back in the day those high number power rod things were a bitch to move. Not only that, but in order to even get into "bench position" on those things, you would have to essentially do a partial fly, which you are not gonna be able to do with 400lbs of those fuckin rods.

So I am gonna be the first to go out on a limb and say bowflex was great...for most. It got me to start lifting, was more than enough resistence to get me from 115lbs @ 20% bf all the way to around 170lbs @ 6% bf in just a couple years (and only one dbol only cycle, 25mg daily).

I notice a lot of guys on here aren't even close to what I would consider big, I bet you 80% of people here on elite couldn't max the entire bowflex load on any single excercise. As such, most people here could still benefit from the bowflex.

I Own a Bowflex Along with my Gym of Free weights, It serves the same function as a weight stack on any machine .
Its smoother range of motion is better to me.
Again i don't not rely on it alone ,as i use free weights 85% of the time, But its great for certain isolation Exercises. Just make sure you have enough power rods!

Yeah I am thinking of using it for holding out like 3 or 4 seconds on isolation excercises. Might get some kind of result if I keep doing it overtime. Definately not an instant gainer like a good bench press workout.

i use a bowflex. i got the 410 resistance.. good for me for everything besides squats and deads.. i max it out.

resistance is resistance.

Almost half the people I heal have hurt themselves with a bowflex. I have never tried one, is the weight even through the motion? does it want to dislocate shoulders when doing presses? Seems to be the most rehabed body part I see from the bowflexers.
If you got it for free that's good, just be real carefull with it, don't hurt yourself and have it cost you money. Peace.

No ! Its not ,it is great for isolation Exercises and Sculpting & Cutting

Mine has 410lbs of resistance.
The Rest of my home gym has about 1,500lbs of Plates!
I also have Free membership To Coffee's Gym in my home town it has anout 100 weight machines & tons of Heavy Iron! Variety is the Key!!!!
Bowflex alone will not do it!

I have decided to give up lifting at the gym since I thought of a better idea...

I rigged up some sand buckets throught a pulley system on my door, I call it Zoidflex!

You guys call yourselves beasts... watch out Coleman!

I used one but have since sold it. It was good until I maxed out the resistence and didn't have a way to increase weight. It will help train your stabilizers for sure. Power rod poundage doesn't correlate at all with what you could do in free weights. I imagine the feel from a bowflex would be similar to the bands that powerlifters use-seems like both are resistence type training. Not worth the money but hey it was free so what the hell.

I just get this feeling I can feel the whole "motion" of the excercise when I perform it slowly. Has to be good for striations in some way.

I kinda get to determine where it hits the muscle. Interesting if you think about it.

I have the Bowflex extreme 2, along with dumbbells, and other exercise equipment. I have owned it now for about six months. I do not believe you will gain muscle mass from using it. However, it's a great toner and work out just to get into shape. The machine itself is sturdy and built very well. The price is its biggest down fall. If you're looking for muscle mass then free weights are the way to go.

No, resistence and load and a good diet will give you muscle mass. I swear that 90% of the guys on here could not max out on ANY exercise on the bowflex. As such, you CAN build muscle using the bowflex if you use a sufficient weight on it. But for the price, I too would much rather be at the gym.
