So DHL is going under in the US market.

Damn, another company goes bust.

And Bluegreen Corp that sells time shares and stuff is filing bankruptcy as well. I hate to be those people who own time shares with that company.

I thought they were gonna just cut 9,500 jobs and not go under. Makes sense to cut some jobs, internet ordering is way down.

DHL is eliminating their entire US domestic delivery operation, but will continue with the international shipping.

Kind of a shame, I've always had good luck with them.

So I guess there's gonna be a lot of yellow vans for sale soon.

One of the biggest companies here. UPS is growing like a weed though...

Ups and fedex had trouble in the start up lots of money to fork out in planes , hubs ,transports
Eventually the both started making money.
DHL came at the wrong time when jet fuel and cost of transport was at its all time high.
Hoping to recover in better times earlier operation cost but it was ether go under or drop your biggest liability ( domestic service )
and focus on international service ( imports from china and textiles from europe )the biggest money maker.

I believe DHL is still the #1 shipper in the world. Their US business was just the final link in some of their shipments. Probably found it cheaper to farm that part out.

I feel bad for the DHL guys. I know their hub in Ohio employs 25000 people. It us the main job for five surrounding counties. These people are going to be facing hard times when the hub shuts down. I beleive it will remain open for a time.

I am employed by FedEx and business is down big time. I am the low man on the totem pole for my peer group. We have a no layoff policy, but relocation is a possiblity. I hope things pick up soon.

Their domestic service is what used to be Airborne Freight. DHL took them over a few years ago.
