Smoking laws

The health department in my county is trying to pass laws against smoking in public places. This law would prohibit restaurants from having smoking sections and employers will not be allowed to have a smoker's break room.

I'm not a smoker but I still think this is government overstepping it's bounds. My employer has a break room for smokers and it doesn't bother me. I'm not required to enter it and it's completely isolated from the rest of the work area.

This country keeps moving towards communism.

I don't smoke and I hate being forced to smell the smoke of others. I do think the government has been getting out of line with the smoking laws, and the outrageous taxes for tobacco. We live in a free country and I see no reason that people are being forced not to smoke if they want to. The only other thing that needs to be changed is that I don't want to pay for their medical care when they get lung cancer. If they can't pay, then they don't get treatment.

Come to California where you can smell the food and not the tobacco. Where smoking is heading towards the Cancer Ward
where it has always been. When tobacco is legal and it kills when used as directed,then other people should not have to smell your garbage,after all you smokers really enjoy this toxic stuff now don't-so go out side and light up "coffin" nail near a gas pump and
give the country a little more fresh air to breathe.

I hate smoking too. People who smoke irritate the hell out of me. I hate having to breath their poison. They always use the argument that the air is already polluted and everything causes cancer. Stupid fucks. If I shoot steroids, that will not affect their health, only mine. But their fucking second hand smoke is deadly. It should be outlawed in public. I like the law in the Phillipeans. How is a law against polluting the work place communist?

Because, as FTF, has stated, government is overstepping it bounds by telling the private individual (business owner) what he can or cannot do.

Why should a restaurant not be able to have a smoking section? It promotes their business since it caters to both sections of society. If smokers do not wish to be in this location they are free to leave. You have a right to eat, not to eat here.

Also, the business owner will feel the pressure of the market, by making his own free choices. If enough people decide not to venture his establishment due to smoking section, then he will either do away with it himself or go out of business.

I do not smoke and never have, but I respect people's right to do as they wish. This is simply the collectivist concept of suppressing individual freedom for the opinion of the masses.

You lost your point when you stated "on my property". The restaurant is not YOUR property, but the property of the proprietor, who should be able to decide what his/her business should cater too. And if you and other non-smokers decide to not go to this establishment, you shall affect his/her profit, which is an effective punishment.

And if you are insinuating that people should not be able to smoke out in the open air, then you are supportive of nealry any type of opinion based infringement on individuals.
