If you have multiple computers connected it will slow the rate down considerbly.

Plus, I hope you're not using EliteFitness as your speed test. It'd be slow on a 100GB/sec rate!

I just got my DSL service activated, but it's kinda slower than I expected it to be... Does it take time for the DSL modem to "warm up" or something? I live preety close to the main networking place for the DSL... so what do you think the prob is? Thanks

Yes sir, let it idle for a few minutes when you first start your computer. Check the antifreeze if you are still having problems and it is cold where you live.

They have pretty much anything you would ever want to know.

there are parameters you can set to speed it up and places to test it.

also, DSL speed is based on how far you are from the repeating station, and the temp outside. the colder it is, the better electricity conducts, so the better your speed will be. if you live in a climate that is always hot, then unless you live right next to the repeater, I wouldn't bother with it.

also, if you have fast download, but slow upload, that is usually by design. to have fast both ways is usually considered a business service and you have to pay more.

What do most people here have? I'm sure no one surfs EF all day with dial up. Unless ofcourse you are me. I can't get DSL in my area and I can't get cable modem. But you gotta love that T1 connection at work. It doesn't take 30 minutes for a post to load. And who else could get as high of post counts as some have on here with dial up? Sheeesh!

I got to 1000 posts using dial-up. (5-6 months) so it can be done!
Now we have DSL thank goodness.

What are your hardware specs? They have a significant impact on bandwidth. Basically you will go only as fast as you weaking component will let you. I also notice a speed incress when I went from 98 to XP.

MY DSL ISNT AS FAST AS I EXPECTED IT TO BE EITHER. WHEN I GO TO AOL SYSTEM INFO, CLICK ON UTILITIES, THEN CLEAR BROWSER CASH, MY SPEED TRIPLED JUST ABOUT. I THINK I ALSO HIT THE TAB, "UNINSTALL AOL ADAPTOR".
