slin vs lipoic acid

I just read a few posts of insulin and lipoic acid.

In theory they are basicallly the same. So why take the more dangerous slin?

I read the slin post and found it very informative Id take it too if I wasnt afraid to!

Im not ready to die for a few pounds of muscle.

They are not "basically the same". ALA lowers blood glucose by upregulation of the GLUT 4 transport system. It helps move glucose into your cells. The reason bodybuilders use insulin is because insulin moves amino acids into cells. ALA has not been shown to affect amino acid transport. Amino acids don't rely on the GLUT system; they are transported into cells via a seperate insulin sensitive transport system.
