Sled?...wanna build one

Anyone have any good sled pics or even by chance any sled plans or specs?
Wanna build one to pull around the old landing strip in the field next to my yard!!

Had a chance to pull one last weekend for the first time, could barely walk the next three days,...had to fall in love with it right away!! Looked like a home made job with about 200 pounds on it some guy had on the beach near me. Asked him if I could give it a try, he smiled and said go for it!! :chomp: Could be a new favorite next to Deads! Cardio and a leg workout, SWEEET!!

Also, where can I get a harness for pulling one?

an old weight belt with some chain looped through it.

sheet metal bent up at an angle (whatever dimensions you want/need) some round stock welded to the center. drill some holes on the corners or weld a "loop" to attach a carabiner to in the middle of the front of the sled.

you can get the harnesses at www.ironmind.com although i think i would use those for pulling vehicles and such and use a chain and a handle w/the sled. either way if u need, i have a sled also and i could send you a pic sometime

Here is a home made sled...built for 2 kegs.

Having a buddy of mine gettin the stuff to weld us one today. We're thinkin' 1/4 steel plate 3' X 3.5' long with turned up sides all the way around so if we wanted to we could add bricks inside or whatever besides weight on round stock welded in the center. Ya think it should actually be wider than longer or the other way around? Or even just square? Dimensions would help??

Thanks King,..would love to see pics of yours, what are the dimensions on it? Looked at the harness link ya posted too,..damn them things are pricey. Will make do for now with what we can get, will try out bignate's idea on the belt and chain.

ive never had a problem with the belt and chain. not like you will rip the belt that fast, you'll see it coming. heheh.

Truly inspirational B-Fold!!! You Da Man!! :chomp: Sled I'm thinkin' of is kinda like the one in the 5th pic down that ya posted, the one where yer in a tank top. Looks square by dimension, 4' X 4' maybe?

Dude! "Weather is, here. Wish you were, beautiful !!" ;)

Got snow on the ground here all year long, (up in the mountains) even in the summer with 85 degree temps. What else is a guy suposed to do,...Pull a tire around or somthing? ;) ;) ;)

B Fold,..just looked under the "Walker Training Equip." link on the bottom of yer post. Thats the Sled I wanna build!! (just maybe not outta diamond plate)
Thanks!!!

OK, another queation here for you guys (especially considering those that have posted on the sled thing are those that would probably be the best to ask this)

"Box Squats" Wanna start doin' them along with "Hip Belt Squats" Question is for Box Squats though; What do you use for boxes? Custom made ones? Will Milk Crates work? (I'm guessing maybe for 2-3 inches below paralell but not for 2-3 above box squats) I'm 6'3",...so what do you guys use?

For Box Squats I use a pair of old Ford Van mags and an old wooden aerobic box...then I lay a piece of carpet across the top. Works for me and I'm 6'2".

does anyone not have a weight belt? all you need is to loop the chain through it, it can hold alot of weight too.

everyone wants to get fancy by using a harness. :rainbow:

:)

If you are going to pull heavy loads with intensity...you will need a harness. Using the belt will cause you to be more upright when pulling where as using a harness will allow you to lean over and put mroe stress throughout the body. The harness will last longer, especially if you are planning to do heavy and intense dragging.

I'm not talking about the WSB sled WALKING...I'm talking about intense sled dragging like I do.
