I thought you had to train by going on a bunch of tandem trips first. After you pass certain tests then you're able to go by yourself. That's what I was told anyway.

Correct. After a certain number of tandems, you have to take a training course as well, then you can go solo. Fucking expensive though.

It is similar........you can take that route or an accelerated course. The accelerated course lasts 2 solid weeks and involves one tandem jump followed by solo jumps with guides. Apparently hard work but I'm up for it.........just have to make sure that I stay under 210lb (weight limits suck!!).

BTW you make that other guy look tiny

You know, I've always wanted to skydive.

Or hangglide for that matter.

But..........I have a SEVERE phobia of heights. I don't understand it, but if I get high enough off the ground I freeze up. Being in a building is no prob, even on a highrise balcony. In certain situations, though, I get totally freaked.

Still, I wouldn't mind trying it at least once.

Even I had to go through all that shit, though I completed the Army jumpmaster course as well as freefall (HALO) school.

I had 381 jumps before I had one.

it's for insurance reasons.
