Skinny guy looking for advice, few simple questions

Hey guys, thanks in advance for any advice. I posted in this sub-forum just because it has the most readers from what I saw, this isn't an entirely steroid question.

I am skinny book worm type who has skinny arms and has never lifted weights. Did some regular push ups and situps and 15 pound weights and some good running for a period of time but not much more than that. Wasn't an athlete much during school either, can put up some picks if you want, but mostly skinny with a little chubbiness, sometimes more or less, now around 1 inch of fat around the belly, standing up.

Started working out regularly with increasing dumbbells on shoulders and pushups. Started at 15 last week and has moved up to 20.

Maybe looking for some advice about something 'light' to try, something with little side effects or seriousness to the system, maybe something nutritionally or supplement wise. Interested in information a person would want about trying a steroid or etc, maybe in a smaller dose. A simple goal would be to speed up the shoulders and chest. Mainly work on shoulders, chest, triceps and a little abdomen in recent workouts. Any quick advice about these excersizes as well? I've heard to be careful with the shoulders and back and this is in the mind. Almost always at home, by self with dumbbells.

Thanks a lot, sorry for a slightly long post, glad if you throw your 2 cents.

Also started dht inhibitor for hair loss recently and am in mid 20's. On the smaller side of average height and around 140. The hair loss would be something important to keep in mind for advice.

Also, from the bit i read, eating sufficient protein and diet is important. Could you get some good improvements from diet alone in your opinions (interested in any non-steroid user's opinions also)? Been eating maybe 15-45 grams of protein a day, usually in the form of homemade bean sandwiches and wraps. A semi vegetarian but cheat a bit at time. Average daily intake would be 2-4 large bean wraps, and some vegetables, broccoli, tomato, onion, garlic, some fruit too, some times a little dairy mixed in. Should you go nuts on the protein? Would adding more meat also increase growth from the protein and creatine? What about fish, salmon for example compared to beef? Thanks alot. Think this is what people call the "bulking phase" now, this would be correct according to that model of training?

Been getting some pretty good results even in the 1-2 weeks since beginning. I think i'm somewhat familiar with the speed of regular muscle growth. Usually try to make the workout pretty intense, been doing many reps in free time on the computer for example. The best results have been the triceps on the skinny arms though.

You are far from any steroids. Get kreatin and some protein to help you.

Give fuck about x weight. Concentrated lifts. Not just up, but lift em down aswell.
Do your compounds, switch up on doing isolations before or after. Anything you can do controlled up to 8-12 reps is a good range.

Interesting, thanks my friend, you wouldn't recommend going heavier weights for less reps? I've heard that's better than longer reps for growth.

Also, is it okay for me to speak honestly about the steroids? Is the rule only for describing first hand use? I'd rather just be honest with any police and feel more comfortable that way. Don't have to feel like some deviant or other horrible criminal... when some police and others use them almost openly, barely hidden. I don't want anything serious though, or dangerous, just something small, a slight edge maybe. Is there anything completely legal that is very good? I think I side with the law in most cases but they seem practically legal and mostly harmless if you don't use them long term or in high doses. Good opinion? I'll think about the creatine and start some more protein. Thank you very much.

Best advice I can give is join an actual gym and get your diet sorted.. 45gm of protein a day won't cut it.

You need to be doing deadlifts Squats bench press (barbell or dumbell) over head presses (OHP), barbell, dumbell rows..

Steroids should be the last thing on your mind at this early stage

I've been doing mainly db rows, db shoulder press and pushups, sometimes with knees. Anything else you recommend? There isn't any legal stuff besides creatine or protein that you would recommend? I'm going to try doubling or tripling that protein number and maybe come back. Price is a factor as well for me, thanks my friend, i would probably like a gym sometimes but I also like to work out at home the most i've found. Why are steroids out of the equation for me at this point? Are my hormones different than an experienced athlete?

Sure 6-8. I consider that heavy. You could go higher aswell. Some respond better to higher reps, some to lower. Its a good idea to figure this out on your own. There is no training schedule fit for all.

Slight edge, you can check out some of the good test boosters. A pre workout stim if thats help you pumpin. Research alot on the steroids if youre onto the idea, but your aome years from it. You lose gains you otherwise could get naturally with just getting a grip.

No one will give you any ideas, but reading for a long time. Doesnt matter what the hollywood actors do or does not.

Are my hormones different than an experienced athlete?

No but your body is different.. your joints, ligaments and tendons aren't conditioned to tolerate the forces that steroids are going to out in them.. your muscle will grow and joints will lag behind and then you will get injured.

You haven't put in enough time into your training to know what works for you and what doesn't.

Your diet is way off and your training is way off as well..

Until you have spent years training and dieting with good results then you can add in steroids but right now you have no clue what works for you

do more reading on how to eat and train.

this isn't the right forum for you. we have diet and weightlifting sections I suggest you hit those up

if you were new to fishing would you go and spend 100K on a fully equipped fishing boat and drive miles offshore? or would you go to the jetty or pier and learn first the ABC's?

Good advice from all. John, i'm going to figure out what works with the weight and reps, good advice. I think it's best to stay away from steroids now especially because of my hair loss. I don't know if i'm willing to take that risk. I would keep your advice in mind about the test boosters, but from what i've read that and even creatine can increase your hair loss. I want to give my hair pills some time to kick in before that, then make that decision. I've been using concealer, caboki, and have even thought about a hair piece (not as bad of a choice as you might think immediately, there's some good stuff). I've been reading a lot in the hair department and it sparked my curiosity and some cross references to body building forums. I'm wary of modifying my hormones, even with the hair loss stuff. A stimulant might be a good idea for pre work out too, i might try that sparingly, though i try to go lightly with pharma as i kind of portray before.

Anyone have good info about creatine and hair loss?

I've heard growth hormone and maybe related substances are useful and also may regrow hair. This seems like something i'd keep in mind, considering as I said, i only really want to dabble on the edges with small doses.

Bonacris, good advice, i was just doing some reading before about that from a search engine, others had a similar idea. I would keep this keenly in mind.

Steve, haha, funny analogy, good advice, thanks, i think i should try more natural stuff first and will go over there. I think I have a decent understanding of manipulating hormones and as I said, I want to go very lightly to minimize the risks of hurting my body, or unintended consequences.

Rick, I'm going to keep that in mind and be very cautious regardless. I'm going to try to figure out my proteins, i've been already getting pretty great gains from my intense daily work outs, from nothing to bigger than some women in a week or two. I used to run a lot and put myself under some high intensity and stressful work outs, so I think I have a good mentality for making good progress. Thank you, your support is good, appreciate you helping my small self out, you'd probably smirk at me in the gym though, skinny as I am, calling me "bro." I try not to use that term, don't want to sound like a 'frat boy' haha, but it's gotten popular. Thank you though, broth, or brother.

I learned about doing slow speed reps, which makes it really intense and have been doing a lot of those. I believe the slow reps increases muscle growth, maybe due to the intensity.
