i love sk8ing and sk8 culture, though i have little to do with either anymore
kids now in days are so sick with nollies and switch riding
i still have a board that i driveway fuck around on, but i can barely land a kickflip anymore

its sick seein 12 year olds do switch 360 flips nowadays. when i used to ride a nice sized switch kickflip was considered amazing. i never did my first rail til i was like 16. kids now are doin that shit at like 11.

i never had the stones to hit any rails
takes big balls to ride rails, lotta hurt can happen.
proly my dopest move was a backside k.flip down a few stairs
simple for sure but it looks fuggin badass/
youtube mark appleyard for some sick footage

I used to skate way back in the day. I've still got my Vision Jinx with independents and slimeballs.

I was never a huge rail and stairs guy. Lots of curbs and random street work (probably got as high as 4-foot curbs). Lots of grinding, decent at kickflips.

Zoo York had the best boards out there.

yeah me too.
parking lots, parking curbs, little launch ramps, etc.
at the time it was as hardcore as my town would allow
now in days even in po-dunk michigan i see kids ripping 50-50 grinds down 8 stair rails
that sport has def elevated the level of nuts required.
imagine trying to step to a rail now in days, we'd seriously injure ourselves
but the balla skaters get up and do it again.
props

When I was walking thru SD the other night I found a great condition deck (no trucks or wheels). I tried kickflipping it and think I now have a hernia. :(

I still have two issues of Skateboard World from July/August 1980. I never got much vert but I had an awesome 85 degree ramp in our driveway. I got plans for it from a magazine and took it to a home construction to look for scrap wood. The workers took the plans and built it for me in like 20 minutes.
