Single women having babies on purpose....

reno240

Well-known member
There is a new trend I keep hearing about that bothers me. Single, older, financially stable women that want kids - so they head out to bars for one nighters hoping it takes - or they get artificially inseminated.

This strikes me as selfish. Why would someone purposely bring a child into a less than ideal situation?

Some women can not keep men so now they have to do it on their own.
I do not feel it is right. I think of a family as a dad and a mom and their kids. Catholic upbringing...

I feel you Reno on that last post.
Single older women think they can "handle" it but then complain about it. You got your self into the situation, now find a way out.
Do it the right way!

I think a child needs an man's and woman's influence in it's life. Besides watching a mother and a father interact together help children learn how to do it themselves.

I agree with Reno; at the same time I can see where they're cumming from.

I mean women have limits on how long they will be fertile. And if they're mature and stable enough to raise the child without the help of the father, then I don't begrudge them. It's a hell of a lot better than teenage pregnancy where it's a huge cluster-fuck and everyone's broke and uneducated.

It is a lot more common for younger women to do it to get married. (or your $)

There is an Article in some woman's magazine about women who get preg on purpose to "get their bf to move to the next level".

It made me sick how they were "teeheeing" about getting pregnant because their boyfriend didn't want to get married right away.

Most women are fucking selfish.

I agree. A family unit is man and women. No mixing and matching!

Its stupid to have kids without having $$ set aside, two parents or one.

If a woman has a nest egg set aside with no father, why not? I would think it would be easier on the kid to NOT go through a divorce and have one parent, than to have two only in the beginning.

LOL at men deciding on how women should act and or treat their lives.
How bout we talk about how women should not have abortions

ATW, I agree, trapping a man by getting preggies is pretty insane. Not all women are selfish but humans in general are.

We wouldn't have to worry about abortions or most of the fucked up family lives if I was allowed to put everyone on birth control. (until I decided they were ready to pop out a kid)

Oh a few girls tried that shit on me. And, I know a lot of guys that got taken by it. Of course now they are not together with the girl and the kid is fucked up.

I like that idea, but I like the idea better where people should adopt.
You hear from people "But I want my own flesh and blood" whatever!
Our world is so overpopulated. If you really love kids, then you can love any child.
If adoption was easier and free, I believe more good souls would adopt.

Chinese kids are lead free by the way ;-)

I'm just wondering ok....but why dont you boys just pull out if you dont want a baby and dont want to wear a condom?

Pull out doesn't work. Condoms don't work all the time.

Pill plus condom and no sex when you broads are ovulating equals no kids.

Problems happen when you don't wear a condom because girl is on the pill. Then, oopppsy girl forets to keep taking pill.

It can be done alone. I could do it real easy IF I had the help of a full time nanny. Would I want that life? Nope! But..it can be done easier now with women who have an education and the funds.

Indpendant Gabrielle story... Or...Maybe stubborn Gabrielle Story:

I'll never forget the day my hubby came home and found me fixing the broken lever on the crapper. I had asked him for weeks to call a plumber and he insisted he would fix it. Well, I got mad and did it myself with the help of good ole Lowe's.He came home and said, " Damn, I'm surprised you did not have my bags packed waiting for me." My reply, " I would have, but I was busy fixing this toilet." Him, " I'm screwed" lol

Meh...I don't really agree with the "adopt instead of having your own kids because giving birth is selfish" thing. I've known some people who adopted and it's not easy and not inexpensive. A lot of people don't have the resources for it.

Divorces and teenage pregnancies are not the same thing. They are mistakes and/or accidents - this is being done on purpose. Money is important, but my problem is that everyone always says - without argument - that a baby benefits from the influence of the mother and the father and that it helps raise a well rounded adult. But then women do this.... To me, it's selfish.

seriously I know that its not foolproof, but it helps if you dont want to wear a condom and dont trust the girl to take the pill like she should

I'd think you'd be more shocked by the fraud they are commiting against the poor guys that just think they are having fun rather than being used to illicitley produce a baby - their offspring. That's the disgusting part.

LOL @ singling out an single, older, financially stable woman brining a baby into the world as a 'less than ideal situation'.... fuck bro... there are alot more 'less than ideal' situations you should be concerned about.

What ARE the stats with regards to single, older, financially stable females who have babies and raise them alone? These kids end up fucked up?
I wouldt say all fucked up, but its well known that statistically speaking a child from a single mother wont fare as well as a child from an intact family. Are you kidding?

This happened to me. But I had my eyes wide open and enjoyed myself. She was 40, bi and simply wanted a child.

Now I have a new daughter who is 16 and I am super happy.

A bit twisted?? Yes .... but it happens.

I think it is BS, here is why. I want kids but due to my job and the fact that I'm a male I can't.

I like what the Chinese do. Take the little runts and throw them in the river. Better yet, do as the Spartans did and inspect them and if they don't make the cut throw them off of the cliff. That would solve the adoption problem in this country and it would help stop overcrowding and over population of the trailer parks and inner cities.

well "single mother" is a pretty broad subject base and I was more speaking to older, single, financially stable women who make a conscious choice to reproduce for the purposes of raising a child of their own. I wasnt referring to other "single mothers"

One day when this world is TOO overpopulated, other countries will adopt some form of control over birth.
When food and space is running out

Well not totally, but ya know those ppl who have like 5 kids and want more, but only want their own. Hell adopt some poor kid sitting in a warehouse waiting for love. It sucks that we produce more people when there are more than enough looking for love.

hey guess what?
people are allowed to have as many kids as they want in this country. in SOME cases, that's not necessarily a good thing. I worked in child welfare for over 12 years. I have seen my fair share of women who should have had their uteruses yanked out with a tire iron. but to make a general statement like you did was a lil overboard.

in the states adopting is harder than having your own; plus the parents can come back at anytime...in theory there is some truth however the baby market is about 40k minimum at this time to adopt...that is the facts

Because as hard as it is to adopt, it's three times as hard if you aren't married.

actually; pretty much impossible - again fact
hey there's lots of kids in foster care (history or abuse and neglect) who are ready for adoption. all that takes is a foster care license and to go through the process and there is no cost to that. in fact, you can be eligible for a subsidy from the state for adopting these kids! along with that a medical card to cover all medical costs! now, take into consideration that some of these kids have special needs - emotional and physical and behavioral nd they are typically not babies (some as old as teenagers).

yes; there are many angelic people who take on these challenges - it is both rewarding and heart breaking from what I hear.

And I wonder why that is.

Pretty much every person I know who was raised by a single mom thinks she walks on water. But I know plenty of people from intact families who have tons of issues and had a hard home life, or people who went through parents getting divorced. Your logic - such that you see it to be - is flawed.

Anyone who has a kid when they aren't planning on it is going to be at a disadvantage, alone or not. It's a greater financial and time burden when you don't have anyone sharing the responsibilities. but a LOT goes into making a stable home and there are a lot of things way more worrisome than someone not fitting the cookie cutter family picture.

My brother and his wife are foster parents with an organization that specializes in hard to place children. their most recent were two little girls who had drug addicts for parents (who were married, by the way). They did this because they couldn't afford to go through the hoops of adopting but wanted to have children in their lives (my sister in law ahd a pulmonary embolism, so going off her blood thinners to get pregnant would have been life threatening). Adopting is extremely difficult no matter what your situation.

I have at least 3 friends who have adopted (infants): 2 from China, 2 from US, 2 from surrogate

costs approx 40k / 55k/ 65k EACH plus lots of time

Im looking beyond money. Of course an important element of a good upbringing is not being born into poverty and having financial stability. But if thats going to be in place then what matters next is having both parents in your life. Im speaking purely from a biological/social standpoint. Children need both a good female figure and male figure positively influencing their lives and I dont think its a good idea to for someone to just say "well I make xx dollars a year, Ive got the nanny in place, time to find a guy to knock me up". I dont see how the benefits to the woman of having a child in that manner outweigh the potentially negative effects to the child and the most certain effects of de-legitimizing fatherhood and men in society. I just dont think its something good to strive for.

I wasn't talking about money. You're also assuming these women will never have men in their lives or get married for a child to have a male figure. I was saying that being married doesn't make you more qualified to have a child JUST because you're married. Plenty of married couples are fuckups, even financially stable fuckups, and have no business having children. I think it's better to have one devoted mom and no dad than two parents who fight and scream in front of you all the time. being married does not equal better parents. Sure, ideally, two stable (emotionally and otherwise) parents is best. But other than myself, I know of only a couple of other people who had really stable and traditional home lives.

Wrong. That's not why I said that.

Most single moms are that way by accident and it happens wth greater frequency in areas that are already poor - that's where those stats come from. The original post was talking about single moms who are older, plan for it and are financially stable. They only make up a tiny percentage of what goes into those "stats," thus making talk of "stats" irrelevant in this conversation. A few of the guys I know who's moms raised them alone did indeed grow up poor. But they grew up in loving homes.

lol...you're talking to one of the more personally traditional people you could meet. I love the idea of cooking for and doting on my man, and would never plan for a child outside of marriage.

god forbid that people who actually WANT kids have them

you're right lol i think a higher percentage of our children should come from unplanned pregnancies

Why is it anyone's business what us single ladies do to raise our kids more than married ladies? Married ladies can have children, but single ladies shouldn't be allowed or should only be allowed to adopt? Adoption is a wonderful thing for those who want to do that, but so is having your own baby. All babies are blessings. I say that women should be judged on how much they love and nurture their kids not on whether the daddy stuck around to be in the picture.

You're missunderstanding what I am saying - It's not whether the daddy sticks around or not - that's unavoidable and/or a mistake. Once that happens - I feel for the work a single mother has to do and admire the effort they have to put forth in order to raise a child. I have a problem with women that knowingly try to get pregnant without a father. To me, it's bringing a child into a less than ideal situation on purpose. Why? Because they WANT a baby.... To me - that's selfish.... If the father takes off and the mother keeps the child and raises it - then it's selfless. It's an exact opposite situation.

Think about all the MARRIED women who bring children into the world because they think it will somehow calm her man down or fix the relationship. Thats not selfish? Talk about having a job to do right when you get in this world.

You can keep citing statistical outliers all day long but the bottom line is the ideal environment for a child is one woman, one man, regardless of finances.

I'm not, I'm just thinking and posting out loud if that makes sense.

The situation I'm talking about in the above post is not ideal either.

SO how about a happily married couple with no problems whatsoever being the most ideal for a child. Wow what a shocker!

Ideal situation for children - loving mother and father. Both influences, man and woman. I don't think that can be debated. We can "what if" until the cows come home, but that's it. That's what people strive for and look for. If it doesn't happen by some unforeseen events - well, there is nothing that can be done about that but to do the best we can. But to do it on purpose. Why?

Settle down.

You have to remember that you are the exception. MOST single moms are not 40 yr. old lawyers.

MOST are uneducated, require public aid, have a loser of a baby daddy, etc.
