Almost all academic scholarships for state universities have an unlimited amount of places as long as the person qualifies with the proper grades.

Umm, no. Where are you gettting your figures from? You think there is just unlimited money for anyone who qualifies? You need to do some real research before you make claims like this, because you're pretty off on this one.

It's another example of how white people are perfectly happy to bend over and take it in the ass from their rich overseers, but scream and yell every time someone hints their white skin doesn't mean shit any more.

Wake up you assholes, in America the only color people really see is green, anything else is a distraction, to blind you to the real issue, which as always in history is about class not race.

word. And those at the top of the food chain have put large distractors to prevent people from seeing that they are getting assraped.

Some of my favorites

1, Two party system.

2. A justice system that jails poor people so fast it causes overcrowding.

3. The belief that government "handouts" make up more than a teeny tiny percentage of the federal budget.

4. Racial tensions.

wake the fuck up and realize that the government is stealing 30% or more of your money and giving it to other people:

income tax
social security
medicare
numerous other taxes.

You're working until May every year forother people. Awesome isn;t it?

Legacy Scholars are not analogous to Affirmative Action beneficiaries.

"Legacy scholars" are part of policy enforced by the individual school. They choose, as private institutions who should be given that freedom, to let in the sons and daughters of their alumni. This is mainly in order to continue to recieve moneys and endowments from these wealthy alumni. Many of these legacy scholars, though not as bright as their alumni fathers, go on to do great things and represent the school very well. Case in point, George W. Bush.

With Affirmative Action, THERE IS NO CHOICE. The school is forced by a government agency to admit someone who they would otherwise not admit. These people receive an education, often times for free, and then move on to get a job through affirmative action. Affirmative Action is a policy forced on private instituations by our government, while legacies are a choice made, often-times very wisely, by the insitutaion.

These two cannot be compared.

you really think all your hospital bills will be covered by medicaid? or are you kidding?

Most of them, and what isn't will be covered by a special hospital financial program. I have to proove I have little income...which I do since Im a waitor...They just gotta look at my pay stubs. :D My parents will have to pay for the doctor, but the hospital stay should be free. We have a few Dr.'s in the family and they gave us all the inside info about it.

You are amazing. You;re getting fucked out of the state schools by AA, and fucked out of the Ivy league by bullshit like this, and you sit here and say only one of them is bad.

I'm not saying that at all. It sucks to be pushed out by someone who isn't as qualified as you, there's no doubt about that. But, you have to understand that these private schools survive on private monies, and they can't be blamed for doing what they can to stay in business. These legacies actually pay tuition, and they usually continue to give to the school after graduation. As a private organization, they should be allowed to make this choice.

Conversely, public schools don't get any benefit from being forced to admit underqualified candidates (except more diversity), yet they are forced to do so by law. These candidates usually don't pay tuition, and usually still bitch about the conditions once they have been allowed admission. In this situation, I would be more angry for being passed over.

They're both shitty, it's just that one I can understand, the other I cannot.

well good luck with that. I recall star didn't have medical insurance when she got sick, and if I'm not mistaken medicare didnt' cover shit.

Well they're not going to pay for the doctor, we have to fit the bill for that. But the hospitals own type of medicaid program will help with my stay there. I made an appointment today with the lady, she can't see my till November...I might be working by then. Evern though it was 3 days in the hospital, that shit adds up. Especially since I had like people poking and prodding me every 15 minutes. Luckily my parents insurance still covers my prescriptions, so my meds only cost a few dollars though. I think the total is probably around 15,000, they gotta work some sort of plan out for me, what do people on welfare do when they get sick, they dont turn them away at the door, right?
