Shrugs

When I do shrugs I generally pull straight up, hold for a second or two, and release slowly. I notice a lot of people roll their shoulders front to back at the top. What is the point of this? I would think the pause and squeeze at the top would be more beneficial. Am I wrong?

According to what I have read on here rolling the shoulder puts yourself at a risk of injury. The way you have been doing it is better.
 
I like to mix it up Ive done it both ways, and have never felt any pain rolling the shoulders. Now that I deadlift once a week for a LONG time, I dont train traps seperately anymore, and it seems the little fuckers have grown =)
