Shoulder Pain!

MUSTGETHUUUUUGE

New member
What's up bros,

I get this sharp pain in my left shoulder (front of it) when I'm either benching, or working out shoulders. Anything you guys recommend for shoulder pain?

It may be a rotator cuff injury, you don't want to do any strenuous stuff with that shoulder until you get it checked out by a doctor... Rotator cuff injuries, if left unattended, can end your ability to EVER be able to do anything requiring heavy lifting with that shoulder....

YUM

shoulders are very touchy til you get checked out for your rotator try sicking to dumbell movements or just stay away from excerises that hurt it in general..

sux if you are half way thru a cycle

i been out for 8 months on my right shoulder:bawling:
but it's good as new now;)

Do you sleep with your arms up or over your head, if so STOP and it should clear up in a few weeks. Nine out of ten of the clients I train that have rotator probs were sleeping with their arms up, when they quit they got better every time.

The pain you're describing is what most weightlifters experience at some point. It happened to me. I had to lighten the load and change the exercises I was doing. First off, don't do anymore flat bench, only incline. It takes the pressure off the rotater cuff. Also forget about nose crushers. Don't do any front raises, but side raises are okay. If you are in the beginning stages of the pain, you should still work your shoulder out but do it lightly and carefully. You don't want to totally quit working shoulders because you will lose strength and the healing process will be longer.

yup...listen to this guy...it's your rotator cuff...what i have found useful is to warm my rotators every time i work my upper body regardless if i'm working shoulders...it would be wise to check it out by a sports medicine pro...

Yeah bro, I'm in the same boat. I was doing standing military presses about...uhhhmm...3 weeks ago? and i hurt it really bad, I was on my 7th rep of 205 and like an idiot i wanted just one more and all the sudden my shoulder gave out on me and felt like...kinda like a shock going through my shoulder. It hurt so bad. I haven't really lifted since then. I can only do bis, tris, and lower body. I went to the doc, I have to rest it he said (obviously right?), and now I'm waiting to get an MRI done, to see how extensive the injury was. I really hope it isn't bad. I need to keep this muscle I put on :(

return

Guys i have had a shoulder problem for years. When i go clean it hurts like a bastard but when im on cycle which includes at least 400mg of deca it miraculissley dissapears totally in about 2 weeks.I lift as heavy as i want.Im on deca, enth, prop with no problems. UNBELIEVABLE

Pop in my shoulder!!!!!

just thought i'd run this by you guys, see what y'all think:

i went to the gym about a week ago and did chest, i then went and played basketball for an hour or so, once i was done i wanted to do shoulders so i started off with shoulder presses, i didn't do a warm up set like i usually do because i thought my body was warm enough from playing ball and doing chest so, i did one rep and a poping sound came from my shoulder. i finished my workout but i didn't go all out. i took all of this week off (except to do legs) and my shoulder has a bit of pain but i can move it fine. i even tried to do a push up or two just to see if there would be any pain and there wasn't, what's up with my shoulder?

If you go to an orthopedic specialist and they determine it is your rotator (which everyone here suspects) they will put you on a 4-6 wk PT regimine. In addition, anti-inflammatorys 3x a day (800 mg of Ibuprofen) and tell you to lay off the weights and just do the rotator strengthening exercises. If that doesn't fix it, a cortisone shot is next which can immediately identify whether it is a tear or inflammation with pretty good certainty.
If it is a tear, you will most likely need an MRI so the doc can see which muscle(s) it is. Surgery will not be far behind if elected.

I have had surgery in both shoulders. I know the routine by heart.

The worst exercises to make shoulder problems worse or create problems are seated overhead press, behind the neck lat pulldowns and bench press (if done incorrectly). Genetics and poor form while lifting weights play a role in shoulder problems too. Add to the list repetitive exercise sports such as a baseball (pitcher) and tennis (overhand serves)

I read somewhere that coroners, when doing autopsies, find >60% of people have some sort of visible shoulder problems.

Sound like biceps tendon impingement to me. It could be a rotator cuff injury, but most of the time the pain comes from the back. If your not able to work chest pain free after a few weeks of rest I would go see a Orthopedist. I waited and tried to keep working around my shoulder injury and it got to the point that I had to have surgery.

Good luck.

It is probably bicep tendon impengment and will turn into bicep tendonitous I would know I had it myself and what you describe is exactly what I experienced I layed a 12 station sprincler system and two tons of dirt and five palats of gras for my grandparents and I have never had a problem again but I still do no behind the neck exercises and when I bench barbel style I allways stop an inch before I hit my chest I would sugest you do the same and go to the doctor he will give you an exercise plan to help strenghten your shoulder

MUSTGETHUUGE- Did it feel like it was in the front of your shoulder, almost where your bicep/pec/shoulder all meet??

I had the same problem in the front of my left shoulder... turned out it was tendonitis. I had to go to PT, and take anti-inflamitaries. Neither did any good. In the end, I had to find exercises that did not put pressure on the injured part of the shoulder. As a result, I was out of pain in a couple of months and was able to resume most of my pre injury routine. The important thing now is that I stay aware of that shoulder and stop lifting or change my routine slighltly when I feel it start to "go".

I have had impingement and labrum problems on both shoulders. Surgery on both. Just had my left one fixed in April. Pt made me do a ton of rhomboid work to get my posture correct. Helps to be in perfect form while lifting. Dumbells seem to hurt the least. I have gained over 20lbs since with good diet and lifting. I'm being real carefull because my right shoulder is acting up again. I'm going to try prolo therapy this time before I see my ortho again. I'm going to finish a mild primo/var cycle first though.

Take it slow and don't work through pain. Contact Zyg, he gave me good advice.....
